Boston Celtics 2018 Season Preview
A berth in the finals of the Eastern Conference seems almost within grasp for the Boston Celtics. It was the clash with the Cleveland Cavaliers headed by the charismatic LeBron James and the absence of players like Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward from their own squad due to injuries, that cost the Celtics the finals last year. But with James gone from the Eastern Conference to join the Los Angeles Lakers for the season, there is very little left in the Conference to stop them; devoid as the East is of competent challengers besides the Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors and the Indiana Pacers to some extent.
Blessed as they are with the depth to go through a long season, a well respected head coach in Brad Stevens, veteran players and young talent, they have the ability to go on the offensive as and when required. Irving is the leading charger of the team, however, he has players like Terry Rozier, Brown, Tatum, Marcus Smart, Horford and Hayward striving to overtake him.

Philadelphia 76ers, on the 16 of October, Tuesday, at 8 p.m. ET.
The Boston Celtics did succeed in beating the Philadelphia 76ers in five games in the second round of last year’s play-off but only by the skin of their teeth. Of which one went into overtime, one was decided by one point while another by five. So there is no telling which way the pendulum is going to swing this year! The battle between Ben Simmons-Joel Embiid on one side and Irving-Hayward on the other will make for a riveting contest and will see the two teams fighting for supremacy in the Eastern Conference. The head to head contests between the teams will also be deciding which team will have the home-court advantage in the play-off season.
Toronto Raptors, on the 19 of October, Friday, at 8 p.m. ET.
Toronto Raptors have been suffering a fate similar to that of the Celtics for the last three years, they too have been knocked off the play-off contentions by LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers. Last year they produced the Eastern Conference record best of 59-23 and the addition of Kawhi Leonard brought on by the traded package giving away DeMar DeRozan makes them seem formidable. Leonard in one of the best two-way players in the league and capable of defending Hayward, Brown or Tatum on the wing while matching Irving’s offensive production on the other side. The All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry will add more fire power to the team. Here too, the contests will determine the home-court advantage in the play-offs.
Season Predictions by Coverthespread365
The lighter Eastern Conference with the departure of LeBron James will pave a smoother way for the Celtics and a home-court advantage in the season when there are NBA Finals expectations, can easily see them earn the NO.1 seed.
