Brooklyn Nets 2018 Season Preview

Brooklyn Nets 2018 Season Preview

In a league filled with super powers, the Brooklyn Nets are almost like kids testing their luck. They have not made it to the NBA play-offs in their past three appearances and seem unlikely to make it to the play-offs this year. However, in their attempt to match up to the bigger sharks in the water, they have created a stir with the new additions to their rooster. The addition of point guard Shabazz Napier and forward Kenneth Faried should be an improvement over last year’s rooster.

However, the Nets do possess some untapped resources as does any underdog team, mainly in the form of D’Angelo Russell who will be entering his fourth season this year. Spencer Dinwiddie remains unheralded despite his break out last season and DeMarre Carroll’s similarity to Golden City Warriors’ Draymond Green makes him an invaluable asset to this team of underdogs. Head Coach Kenny Atkinson while talking to ESPN Radio Richmond stressed on the availability of these untapped players who will play without any baggage and will be eager to prove themselves. But he is aware of the fact that ,”We have to take another step next year” and so are his boys, sweating it out in the gym. The great off-season program that they were able to avail of, should make ” a better Nets team.”

Nets 2018-19 schedule

Top Matchups.

Orlando Magic on the 18 of January.

The rivalry between the Orlando Magic and the Brooklyn Nets will make one of the most compelling rivalries for the lower-middle positions of the Conference, since neither of the two teams seem likely to advance to the very top. The Brooklyn Nets won the series 3-1 last season and should repeat the performance if they want to save themselves the blushes at the very bottom of the Conference. However, the Orlando Magic has put together a strong core team this season comprising of  Aaron Gordon, Jonathan Isaac and Mohamed Bamba, which shall pose challenge enough to the Nets.

Memphis Grizzlies on the 30 of November.

The Nets would have nothing much to gain if they win against the Grizzlies but all to lose if the lose against them. The Grizzlies led by average players like Mike Conley, Marc Gasol and Jaren Jackson Jr. has practically no chance of making it to the top in the loaded West. But a comprehensive series win for the Nets will get them a long way. The match can have a lasting impact on the 2019 NBA draft, as it might just decide who lands R.J. Barrett, Cameron Reddish or who emerges as a top prospect.

Predictions by Coverthespread365

Miracles do happen and the world stares in awe. However, they are rare and unless the Brooklyn Nets have a dream run, unhampered by injuries and underwhelming performances, the road to the play-offs seem distant. The foundation of the team seem bright but a future prospect and without a marquee player to shoulder the team they will go only so far.

Record Projection: 26-56
