Free NBA Prediction Charlotte Hornets vs Toronto Raptors

This will be the third of four games played between the Hornets and Raptors this season. The Raptors won each of the first two meetings winning in a 132-96 blowout in Toronto on November 18th then winning a 112-110 nail biter in overtime on January 8th on the road. The Raptors last played on Tuesday when they lost to the Eastern Conference top seed Milwaukee Bucks 108-97 at home while the Hornets are coming off a 107-101 home win against the New York Knicks.

This will be the first game for the Charlotte Hornets since it was announced that their third year guard Malik Monk was handed an indefinite suspension by the NBA. The suspension comes as a result of a violation of the NBA’s anti-drug program. In 55 games, Monk was averaging 10.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists (all career highs). He was one of six players for the Hornets to average double digits in scoring and the highest scoring player for the team off the bench. This is a significant blow for the Hornets who are in last place as a team in points per game (102.3). In addition, four of their next five games come against teams currently in the top four seeds of their respective conference and three coming against teams in the top two seeds.

The Raptors are coming off a game in which their nine-game win streak at home was snapped against the Milwaukee Bucks. In that game, the Raptors were without Marc Gasol (has not played since January 28th), Serge Ibaka and Norman Powell (both day-to-day). Both Powell and Ibaka are listed as questionable for tonight’s game. Despite having to deal with multiple injuries to top players, the Raptors have continued to play well winning 17 of their last 19 games including a 15-game win streak. They currently hold the number two seed in the Eastern Conference one game ahead of the Boston Celtics.

Charlotte Hornets

Charlotte are 5-15 SU in their last 20 games.

Charlotte are 2-7 SU in their last 9 games against Toronto.

Charlotte are 5-12 SU in their last 17 games against an opponent in the Eastern Conference conference.

Toronto Raptors

Toronto are 17-2 SU in their last 19 games.

Toronto are 9-1 SU in their last 10 games at home.

Toronto are 8-2 SU in their last 10 games this season.

The Toronto Raptors are the overwhelming favorite to win this game and rightfully so. The Hornets have struggled against teams with .500 records and have been the worst offensive team in the NBA. Combined with the fact that Toronto is one of the best defensive teams in the league that makes it even more of an uphill battle for the Hornets. I have the Raptors winning by a wide margin.
