Line and Odds: Charlotte Hornets -2.5

Free NBA Pick: Charlotte Hornets vs. New Orleans Pelicans

The Charlotte Hornets will head down to New Orleans to meet the Pelicans as the NBA season heads into its final week.  The Hornets have been teetering on the edge of the 8th and final playoff spot, but a late skid appears to have derailed their hopes.  Losing three straight and nine of their previous 15, Charlotte is on the outside looking in as they are three games back with just five games remaining.

Kemba Walker is doing everything he can to keep hope alive, as he is coming off a blistering 47 point performance vs. the Jazz, including 22 in the final frame.  This will be their fourth road game in six days, and they will hope to get a better defensive performance to finish the road trip. They have given up an average of 126 points on the current road swing.  While they are still in the hunt for the final playoff spot, Kemba Walker may be playing for even more. The soon to be coveted free agent is likely trying to leave the best possible impression to all potential suitors heading into the off-season.

There might not be anybody in the NBA looking forward to this season ending then the Pelicans.  The Anthony Davis trade fiasco derailed the season, and they have been in a complete tailspin the last two weeks.  Losers of 10 of their previous 12, they are struggling to stay competitive. They have lost all focus on the defensive side of the ball, illustrated by the fact they haven’t held an opponent to under 110 points since February 9th.  The Lakers were able to do whatever they wanted on Sunday, scoring 130 points in a blowout victory. The Pelicans are 3-9 ATS against losing teams in their previous 12, and just 1-8 in their last 9 home games. Injuries derailed their season, and they will continue to play without starters Jrue Holiday, E’Twuan Moore and of course Anthony Davis.

Free NBA Pick: New Orleans Pelicans Vs. Charlotte Hornets

While both teams are going the wrong way down the stretch, the Hornets are still hanging onto playoff contention.  All the quotes from New Orleans appear to be looking toward a rebuilding off season, and they just want this nightmare of a season to end.  The final game of a late season road trip is never easy, but the Hornets will have the best player on the court who still has a lot to play for. Expect Kemba Walker to have a big game and carry the Hornets over the reeling Pelicans, and keep the thin playoff hopes alive.

The Pick: Charlotte Hornets -2.5
