DraftKings Picks Charlotte Hornets vs Washington Wizards
Former Wisconsin teammates Sam Dekker, now with the Wizards, and Frank Kaminsky with the Hornets will face off in an exciting Friday night matchup. Two teams with almost identical Eastern Conference rivals battling it out for a final spot in the playoffs. A loss by either team could lead to almost certain elimination.
The Washington Wizards are barely holding on after their star John Wall went down with a ruptured Achilles. Of course, it doesn’t help they traded Otto Porter Jr to Chicago; however, the story has centered around what Washington gained and not what they lost. The day before the trade deadline the Wizards and Bull came to a deal. Chicago would get Otto Porter Jr., and give Washington Bobby Portis, Jabari Parker and a 2023 second round pick. Porter is averaging 18.4 points per game, 6.1 rebounds, and 3 assists in Chi-town. Bobby Portis is averaging 16.2 points per game, 9.4 rebounds, and 1.3 assists, including a 24-point performance in his first performance for the Wizards.
Furthermore, Parker is adding in 13.5 points per game and 6.8 rebounds. It seems the Wizards got the sweeter deal. For this matchup, the keys for Washington’s success lies entirely on their young stars and veteran leadership. Washington is coming off a big home win after two road losses and needs to depend on their young star Bradley Beal and veteran guidance from Trevor Ariza to counteract Hornets star Kemba Walker.
Marvin Williams and Cody Zeller are all likely to miss this important game against the Wizards. Both players started a majority of the season and the Hornets will now have to rely on rookie Miles Bridges and Jeremy Lamb. To make matters worse, the Hornets are 3-9 in their last twelve including 1-4 in the last five. This is a team in dire need of a W going as they travel for the third game in a row. The only data in favor of Charlotte is their record against Washington. The Hornets enjoy a 2-1 record over Washington, but those wins came with a healthy team full of Charlotte’s regular starters.

FanDuel Picks Washington Wizards vs Charlotte Hornets
Youth is king in this matchup. Should Bobby Portis come out and perform the Wizards could dominate. Of course, it wouldn’t hurt to have some added points and assists from Bradley Beal. The key for the Hornets is going to be Kemba Walker. He missed last week against the Rockets in a close game away from home. At the end of the day, home field advantage will be too much for the traveling team from Charlotte, give me the Wizards.
Prediction: Washington Wizards -3.5
