We are officially less than a week away from the start of the 2018-19 NBA regular season. As preseason winds down, some teams are still mixing and matching lineups to figure out what their starting 5 will be, come game day.
The Indiana Pacers have been playing some good team basketball and shown signs of depth and improvement. As a team, they’re averaging 108.3 points per game on 43.3% shooting. All-star guard, Victor Oladipo seems to have picked up right where he left off in last year’s playoffs, averaging 23.5 points and 2.5 assists in 3 preseason contests. An emphasis on depth improvement has been evident, both Domantas Sabonis and Tyreke Evans are averaging double digits’ points and second-year player TJ Leaf is beginning to come into his own, averaging 7.7 rebounds. The Pacers have won five of their last seven preseason games and have allowed an average of 103.7 points per game. Pacers defensive anchor Myles Turner is leading by example, having the Pacers be one of the top rebounding teams in the preseason. The Pacers deserve more respect than they are given especially after taking the LeBron James led Cavaliers to a game 7 in last year’s NBA playoffs. Whether respected or not, Vic Oladipo and the young talented Pacers are sure to make noise in the Eastern Conference this year.
Throughout the preseason, It looks as if the Chicago Bulls are still trying to find their identity. The offseason acquisition of Jabari Parker should be a huge help for the Bulls this season. The Bulls are not short of talent but they do lack experience. With the likes of Lauri Markkanen, Zach Lavine, Kris Dunn, and Bobby Portis the potential is there, but they’re still a couple of seasons away from being a real threat in the East. The Chicago Bulls will look to get to back .500 with a win tonight against the Pacers, after dropping back to back games. The Bulls are playing poor basketball this preseason, to say the least. They’re 25th in the league in points per game and 30th in points allowed per game. Yikes.

Given that its still the preseason and starting players tend to sit most of the second half, anything can happen in tonight’s game. The Pacers are the deeper and healthier team now. Men lie, women lie, but numbers don’t and based on the numbers, the Pacers are the team that should come out victorious tonight. The Chicago Bulls are arguably playing the worst brand of basketball in the Eastern Conference and not having Lauri Markkanen (high-grade lateral elbow sprain), Denzel Valentine (left ankle sprain) and Omer Asik (inflammatory arthritis) doesn’t help their case. Inactive for Indiana tonight is Cory Joseph (left knee contusion), meanwhile both Thaddeus Young (bruised right foot), and Edmond Sumner (sore right groin) are questionable for tonight’s game.
