NBA Picks and Parlays Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Charlotte Hornets

With only two games left, the Hornets look to keep their slim playoff hopes alive against the terrible Cavaliers.

Charlotte Hornets

The Hornets are winners of three straight and are hoping that this 3 game surge is not in vain. The Hornets main guy Kemba Walker leads the team in scoring, assists, and steals. He is average 25.5 points, 5.9 assists, and 1.3 steals a game. If the Hornets want to win their next two games and give themselves a shot in the playoffs with a Pistons loss, then they will need Kemba to continue playing big. This will especially be the case with Kidd-Gilchrist and Marvin Williams most likely not playing in this upcoming game.

Both teams rank in the bottom ten in the league in assists as evident with the Kemba leading the team with barely 6 assists a game. The key for the Hornets is to put this game away early. They need to let Kemba go at these defensively suspect guards on the Cavs. Statistically, the Hornets are better in rebounding, field goal percentage, scoring, and free throw percentage.

Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavaliers are just waiting for this miserable season to come to an end. This team does not defend well or spread the ball around. Larry Nance leads the team in assist with 3.9 a game. Meanwhile, rookie guard Colin Sexton has only averaged 2.9 assists a game. He is only a rookie but the team will need for him to do a better job distributing the ball and getting other guys good looks as he develops moving forward.

The only major statistical advantage the Cavs have over Charlotte is in their three point shooting percentage at 35.5 percent to Charlotte’s 34.9. For the Cavaliers to win, they will need to limit turnovers and focus in on stopping Kemba Walker, especially since the Hornets are dealing with injuries leading up to this game.

FREE NBA Expert Picks Charlotte Hornets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers

The Hornets are clearly the better team and will look to stay hot to keep their playoff chances alive. I don’t see them playing spoiler in the final game of the season. Even if the Cavs try to focus on Kemba, I do not trust their ability to be successful at that. Even though the Hornets have struggled against Cleveland in recent years, that was mostly with LeBron being there. With no LeBron, I don’t see the Hornets struggling to cover here on the road.

PICK: Hornets -8
