Free ESPN NBA Picks Cleveland Cavaliers Vs Indiana Pacers

In this Eastern Conference showdown, the Cavs head to Indiana to take on the Pacers. Cleveland looks to snap a three game skid while Indiana tries to make it five straight.

Indiana Pacers

While the Pacers have won four straight, their opponents haven’t been the best. They beat the Clippers after they traded their best player, Tobias Harris, the Lakers amidst the Anthony Davis drama. They also beat the Pelicans who were missing Davis, and the Heat, a below .500 team. Granted, the Cavaliers are the worst team they’ll play over this five game stretch. The spread is rather large, but they’ve won by 24, 42, 2, and 7 during this win streak.

In the absence of Oladipo, Bojan Bogdanovic, Darren Collison and Myles Turner have all stepped up from their season averages. Bogdanovic is averaging nearly 24 points over the last five, Turner is averaging 19 points and 3 blocks in the same time frame, and Collison is distributing and shooting great as well. The Pacers will almost certainly take the victory tonight, the questions is whether or not they can win AND cover the spread.

Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavaliers are just 2-8 in their last ten, and they’re an abysmal 5-23 on the road this year. They’re without Cedi Osman tonight, so the brunt of the scoring load will fall on rookie Colin Sexton and Jordan Clarkson. While Kevin Love came back for six minutes in their last game against the Wizards before being pulled for precautionary measures, he’s unlikely to see any minutes tonight.

The only thing the Cavaliers have going in their favor from a betting standpoint is that they haven’t lost a game by 14 or more in their last six games. They do have two 13 point defeats against the Wizards and Mavericks, however the last time they lost by 14 or more was seven games ago when they lost by 20 to the Celtics.

For the Cavaliers to win tonight, they’ll need Larry Nance Jr to dominate the glass against the likes of Myles Turner, Thaddeus Young and Domantas Sabonis. Furthermore, if Bogdanovic has an off night from the floor, and Sexton, Clarkson and Nance all have amazing games, the Cavaliers could pull out a win, but it seems unlikely.

ESPN NBA Scores Indiana Pacers Vs Cleveland Cavaliers

I think there’s a slight chance the Cavaliers pull off the upset tonight. It’s more than likely, however, that the Pacers take the victory at home. While the Pacers did win big against both L.A. teams in their last two games, both squads had significant chemistry issues, being the trading of Tobias Harris for the Clips and the Anthony Davis trade rumors for the Lakers. I’m taking the Cavaliers tonight, not to win, but to cover the spread.
