Dallas Mavericks (11-6) at Phoenix Suns
NBA: Friday, November 29th, 2019
at 9:00 PM ET (Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix, Arizona)
Line and odds:
After an emphatic end to their 5-game win
streak by the mighty Clippers, Dallas Mavericks seek to bounce back away to
Phoenix. The Kawhi Leonard-led Clippers dismantled the Mavericks 114-99 in what
can be considered a reality check to the young and exciting Mavericks who are
harbouring playoff ambitions and are currently 5th in the Western
Doncic had 22 points in the loss, but he had a really bad shooting night and
with his seven turnovers to six assists, the method employed by the Clippers,
using several defenders to ensure they put an end Doncic's franchise-record
streak of four games with at least 30 points and 10 assists and it proved to be
very successful, with Doncic missing 10 of his 14 shots, including all eight of
his 3-point attempts. But he has been on
a tear all season. Doncic provided glimpses of his potential in the 2018/19
season, as he averaged 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6 assists in his rookie
campaign but he has elevated his game to a MVP level this season and is
currently averaging 30.1 points, 10 rebounds and 9.5 assists per game.
Kristaps Porzingis didn’t offer much in the
loss to the Clippers either. The Latvian went 4 of 13 from the field and ended
with 15 points and 10 rebounds. He has been a decent foil for the superb
Doncic, averaging 18.3 points and 9.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game on 37%
shooting from 3. His combination would really take some stopping.
After an encouraging start to the season,
the Phoenix Suns are in a bit of a funk, having dropped five of their last six
games, the most recent being a painful loss to the Washington Wizards. They’ve
only won 8 games all season but that’s enough to place them at 8th
in the West.
Devin Booker, seen by many as an All-Star this year as long as the Suns stay relevant into the spring, which they should. Booker averages 24.9 points, 6.2 assists and 3.6 rebounds on 52%. Kelly Oubre Jr. has provided an efficient 17.2 points to go along with 5.7 rebounds to aid the fight to push the Suns to the playoffs for the first time in years.
