The Memphis Grizzlies are 13-27 this season, and are 2-3 in their last 5 games. Memphis is not good this season, like not good at all. The reason for this is simple to me, Mike Conley has only played 12 games this season. Conley is the Grizzlies starting point guard, and one of their best two players. Without Conley, the guys who have stepped up are Marc Gasol and Tyreke Evans. Evans is leading Memphis is scoring averaging 19.9 points per game. Gasol is leading the Grizzlies in rebounds with 8.6 rebounds per game. This Memphis team is not even averaging 100 points per game.

The Denver Nuggets are 21-20 this season, and have lost their last 3 straight. Denver has done much better than many people expected them too. Part of the reason for it, is because they have 6 guys averaging over 10 points per game. Gary Harris (16.9 points per game) and Jamal Murray (16.1 points per game) are leading this team is scoring. The other guy who is putting up numbers for the Nuggets is Nikola Jokic. Jokic leads this team in rebounds with 10.2 per game and assists with 5.0 per game. Denver is 14-5 at home this season, and should play a role in this game.

I really like the Denver Nuggets to win this game. Although this team is just 21-20 on the season, Denver is 14-5 at home. The good news for the Nuggets is that this game is at home. For Memphis, without Mike Conley this team is just not very good. Evans has played beyond expectations and I do not expect that to continue. Take the Denver Nuggets to win this game.

The biggest question remains unanswered with the #Nuggets season opener on the horizon https://t.co/gYdNYSf3vt

Replay of this week’s @PickaxePundits show: the Denver #Nuggets 2018-2019 NBA regular season is here! @ZachMikash @JeremyPoley and Mark Grimaldi have the preview for you. https://t.co/nyeAhA3Pnq

Still, defense was the overarching story. Switching, getting through screens, recovering from switches to negate mismatches, closing out to 3-point shooters, closing off the lane, transition D; it was all good & exactly what the #Nuggets want to look like in the regular season.

#Nuggets guards generally were good at clearing quickly on post entry passes to give Jokic/Millsap space to operate. Then they were good at cutting late in the shot clock to give bigs an outlet if they needed one.

Jokic was 1/2 w/1 foul drawn and one turnover on 4 post ups.

Starters Offense:
25/49 FGs (51 percent)
9/20 3FGs (45 percent)

Rest of Team
10/34 FGs (29.4 percent)
1/13 3FGs (7.6 percent)

Defensively, #Nuggets starters were a collective +58
