NBA: Monday, January 20, 2020 2:00 PM (Capital One Arena)
ML: Pistons +110, Wizards -130, Over/Under 232.5 (MyBookie)
Odds: Wizards -2 (MyBookie)
The Detroit Pistons obliterated the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday, winning 136-103. The whole team kept being an issue for the Hawks, earning 12 steals and 8 blocks on the night. Only 3 players didn’t earn a steal for the Pistons. Andre Drummond had another double-double performance with 16 points and 17 rebounds on the day.
The Washington Wizards were terrible against the Toronto Raptors on Friday, losing 111-140. The only bright spot for the Wizards was Isaac Bonga earning a double-double with 10 rebounds and 17 points. The Wizards are going to want to forget this ever happened.
As terrible as the Pistons are this year, they would be much worse if they ended up trading away Andre Drummond. However, apart from ranking 8th in field goal percentage, 4th in 3-pointer percentage, and 13th assists per game, the Pistons don’t break the top 15 in any category. It may be in their best interest to start rebuilding if they are somehow last in rebounds while Drummond is active on the team. Maybe the Hawks will trade away half of their team for him.
If you saw the Washington Wizards record, you would assume that there is hardly anything good about them. On the contrary, the Wizards have been playing far better than their record implies. Other than ranking 27th in rebounds per game, 27th in blocks per game, and 25th in average +/- rating, the wizards are ranked in the top 15 in every major category. Now, If only they were able to stop the other team from scoring so often, the Wizards may be one of the better teams in the NBA.
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Detroit’s last 6 games.
Detroit are 5-12 SU in their last 17 games.
Detroit are 6-12 SU in their last 18 games against Washington.
Washington are 9-0 SU in their last 9 games when playing at home against Detroit.
Washington are 6-14 SU in their last 20 games this season.
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Washington’s last 6 games.
I’m going to keep this brief. The Wizards may be the worse team by record but are easily the better team statistically compared to the Pistons. The Wizards should have no problem bouncing back from their beating from the Raptors.
