A pair of Western Conference teams take the floor in their final game before the All-Star break searching for a victory in the Big Easy. The Oklahoma City Thunder is on the road as they travel to face the New Orleans Pelicans Thursday night. Oklahoma City was knocked off 114-106 at home by San Antonio in their previous contest Tuesday night. New Orleans rolled to a 138-117 home win over Portland in their last game Tuesday night. The Thunder owns a 35-25 advantage in the all-time regular season series between the teams and have claimed all three meetings this season. That includes a 107-104 road win in the most recent matchup on December 1, 2019.
Thunder looking to get back to winning ways.
Oklahoma City suffered their second straight loss after winning nine of 10 as they were knocked off at home by San Antonio. The Thunder entered Wednesday third in the Northwest Division race, six games behind the Nuggets for the top spot. In the Western Conference playoff picture, the team is tied for sixth, nine games behind the Lakers for the top spot, and stood 7.5 games clear of ninth-place Portland to stay in the playoff picture. Oklahoma City trailed by 11 after the opening quarter but cut the deficit to two after three quarters. The game was tied in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter before the Thunder gave up a 9-0 run to trail 88-79 and couldn’t recover. Oklahoma City shot 45.9 percent from the field, including 11 of 31 from three-point range, and was beaten 46-35 on the glass. Chris Paul led the Thunder with 31 points and seven assists in the loss.
