Its Game 2 of this Eastern Conference Quarterfinal matchup between the sixth seeded Brooklyn Nets and the third seeded Philadelphia 76ers. Game 1 is done and what an upset it was. The Nets won 111-102. Who saw that coming? A lot of the bottom seeds in the East are just some okay teams and wouldn’t expect them to steal the first game. It was a pretty even contest and the difference was the Nets winning 11-3 in three pointers. That’s a big 24 point differential right there and with the Sixers big team, they will look to cover the arch better in game 2.
The Brooklyn Nets are feeling confident after a solid victory to start the series off right. The Nets scored at least 30 points in three quarters and most teams will win when you do that. They shot a decent 43 percent from the field and made 24 of 25 free throws. That statistic shows that this team was able to draw fouls throughout the game and make sure they come through with the scoring. Brooklyn did what top seeded teams will do and that’s build a lead early and sustain it the rest of the way. The team had six players in double figures and D’Angelo Russell led the way with 26 points. The Nets will need to be ready for the Sixers adjustments in game 2 and they will need to play well out of the gate again.
The Philadelphia 76ers don’t need to hit the panic button just yet. If they lose game 2, then maybe they can worry a bit. Philly just played flat in game 1 and some of their stars weren’t ready for playoff basketball. Ben Simmons only scored 9 points and Tobias Harris had just 4 points in 41 minutes of work. Joel Embiid did his job with 15 rebounds and 22 points. Even Jimmy Butler played out of his shoes with 36 points. This team is stacked with big men in the key and sharp shooters beyond the arch. The Sixers won’t go 3 of 25 from the three point line in the next game and they will shoot over 50 percent from the field. The points in the paint and rebounds will be there, and hopefully they won’t leave 13 points at the free throw line as well. Philly will come out with fire and look for Harris and Simmons to have bounce back games.

So who will win game 2 of this series? The Nets already stole home court advantage and going back to the end of the season, they have a four game winning streak. Some of those wins were against playoff teams and they even won a shootout game against the first seeded Milwaukee Bucks. Brooklyn did what teams should do before the postseason and that’s play your best basketball and it showed in the opener. Now Philly has more depth and skill and they simply had an off night. If the shooting isn’t there again, then the Nets will be up 2-0 in this series. This will be a close game, but the Sixers will find their scoring and win in the second half. 76ers win 120-110.
