It’s Game 2 of this Eastern Conference Quarterfinal matchup between the fifth seeded Indiana Pacers and the fourth seeded Boston Celtics. Game 1 is in the books and the Celtics beat the Pacers by a low score of 84-74. This was an ugly shooting game for both sides as Indiana shot 33.3 percent from the field and Boston shot 36.3 percent. Not the way you wanted to quick off the playoffs, but even when the shooting isn’t there, you need to find ways to win and the Celtics had the green luck going for them. The third quarter sealed the win for Boston when they outscored Indiana 26-8. The Pacers won’t have a quarter like that again in this series and hopefully they will play more of that signature defense that they are known for.
The Indiana Pacers didn’t play well at all in Game 1. Besides the low shooting percentage and horrid third quarter, the team also turned the ball over 13 times, were out rebounded by 13 boards, and shot 12/21 from the three point line. Also, only scoring 74 points made them seem like an elite college team total, but that college team had an okay night. They had two players get barely over points and their best player Bojan Bogdanović, only scored 12 points. Yes, the postseason is a new season of statistics, but this trend of low scoring and lack of depth scoring showed up in the last few weeks of the season. It’s the main reason they lost out on the home court battle. The Pacers will bounce back and hopefully a performance like this can wake them up and make them realize why they got here in the first place.
The Boston Celtics beat out the Indiana Pacers for home court and they enjoyed it in game 1. Even though the shooting was below average, the 10 threes were there, and they were solid at the free throw line making 18 of 22. Now, the Pacers might have just shot poorly for the second half, but you have to credit the Celtics defense for just letting up 29 second half points. Boston ended the season on a high note by winning four of their last five and carrying that winning mentality into the playoffs. Kyrie Irving and Marcus Morris Sr. led the way with 20 points and Al Horford had a double-double of 11 rebounds and 10 points. In game 2, Boston needs to not turn the ball over 17 times, shoot over 50 percent, and get the shooting going early.

So, who will win Game 2 of this series? The Pacers should easily be able to bounce back after the way they played, but can they match up with the stars of Boston? Indiana needs to have a fast start and show they are ready to go. The defense will be there for them, but the bench scoring and starters need to pull their weight. Boston could have played even better in game 1 and that’s bad news for Indiana. Irving will probably go for 30 plus as he loves to bring his A game in the postseason. This should be a tighter and better shooting game. Boston wins 105-100 but won’t cover the spread.
