The Pacers will travel down south to Atlanta to get a win against a surprisingly hot Hawks team. Both teams are coming off wins but their season could not look more different. The Hawks are looking at yet another top 5 draft pick in the middle of a rebuild while the Pacers sit third in the Eastern Conference standings. Indiana needs to win these types of games to remain a top seed for the playoffs

Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers are coming off a two game win streak and they are 8-2 in their last ten games. The Pacers have been very good all season with Victor Oladipo leading the way for Indiana. Oladipo is averaging 20.2 PPG and 5.3 APG for the Pacers. The Pacers play a refreshing style of basketball by playing good defense. They don’t score a lot averaging just 106.1 points per contest but they are first in points allowed giving up only 100.6 points a game. In a league full of scoring, they remain a solid defensive squad which is important in getting away wins which they do fairly well. They have a 10-7 record away from Indy which is a big part of their early success this year. The Pacers have also have good luck with injuries so far and they will come into today’s matchup almost completely healthy. Tyreke Evans will be a game time decision for Indiana with a knee injury but other than that, the Pacers are full strength for tonight. The Pacers will need to feed off their excellent defense tonight to get another road victory.

Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks find themselves in the second full year of their rebuild and it is very apparent. With only nine wins on the season so far, with one third of them coming in their last three games, they do not have much going for them in terms of the near future. The Hawk are 20th in the league in points per game at 108.7 and they give up the second most points at 117.9. When you average losing by 9 points per night, your season can’t be headed in the right direction. A bright spot for the Hawks are their young studs in John Collins and Trae Young. Young is averaging 15.4 PPG and 7.2 APG and John Collins has been excellent coming off ankle surgery scoring 18.5 points and grabbing 9.9 rebounds per game. The Hawks have been riddled with injures though lately including Collins who is questionable with another ankle ailment along with Alex Len (lower back). Also, Taurean Prince (ankle), Omari Spellman (hip), and Miles Plumlee (knee) are listed as out for tonight’s game. The Hawks don’t have much depth so these injuries can really hurt them as a team.

The Hawks don’t do a great job defending their home court with a 5-9 record in Atlanta which is yet another sign that your season might not be going very smoothly. The Hawks will hope to get a good home win to build more confidence during their hot streak and finally reach double digit wins for the season.

Free NBA Pick Indiana Pacers vs Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks are bad and they often have a lot of trouble finding consistent offense. Their barrage of injuries will only hurt that cause. With the Pacers top defense in the league, The Hawks should have even more trouble getting things going offensively tonight. I would expect a lower scoring game from these two teams who aren’t known for scoring at a high rate. In a low scoring game, eight points is a lot to give especially when the underdog is at home. The Hawks will ride this hot streak and make it a game tonight.

Pick: Hawks +8
