FREE NBA PICK Boston Celtics Vs. Indiana Pacers
A great midweek matchup between the currently third seeded Pacers and currently fifth seeded Celtics in the Eastern standings. Both teams having won four of their last five matchups has the confidence levels very high on each bench. The Celtics are looking to extend their three game winning streak to four tonight on their home floor. Star point guard Kyrie Irving is credited by Marcus Smart for sparking his turnaround offensively where we saw him struggle in the first meeting between these two teams, where the Pacers came out on top due to a Victor Oladipo 3-pointer to close out the game, 102-101.
The Eastern conference is wide open and as we continue inching closer towards the All-star break, teams are beginning to recognize what they did well and did not so well in the first half of the season. With this said, expect to Celtics to bounce back from the heartbreaking loss back in November. They will do so behind Irving’s 22.9 PPG average and their swarming defense. The Pacers are a team who can move the ball well and are not afraid to get physical on either side of the ball. The Pacers have center Myles Turner listed as “Out” and point guard Darren Collison listed as “Day-To-Day” for tonight’s game. Both bring the intensity and toughness that have become representative of the Pacers attitude this season.
Expect a large emphasis on defense during this game as both teams are ranking in top five in average steals per game where the Pacers are number two with 9.2 a game and the Celtics coming in at number five with 8.9 steals per game. To bolster the defensive statistics for this game, the Pacers rank number two in overall defensive rating and the Celtics directly follow them at number three with ratings of 103.4 and 104.1 respectively. Putting the numbers behind it, its clear to see both teams are a force to reckon with when defending the basket.
On the offensive side of the ball, the numbers actually differentiate more and in the new era NBA where many teams live and die by the three pointer, let’s dive into those stats for each team. The Pacers are sitting at fifth place in team three point percentage at 37% where the Celtics don’t crack the top five. But, the Celtics still remain tied for third for most three pointers made on the year so far at 520, tied with the Brooklyn Nets.
ESPN SCORES Boston Celtics Vs. Indiana Pacers
Given all the prior statistics, fans should expect a great, entertaining game to watch with an interesting combination of tough defense on both sides but many three point attempts. Signs are pointer to a relatively high scoring game as the high steal numbers for each team will set up multiple fast break opportunities and clearly both teams are not afraid to scheme plays to free up their long range deadeye’s on the perimeter. This is one of the more balanced matchups slated for the day, if not the most balanced, so be sure to tune in.
