Wednesday Night the Clippers are traveling East to take on the Grizzlies, in a battle of teams coming into December hot.
The Clippers are coming into this game after a close win in New Orleans. The Clippers have had it going for them this year. They have been attacking the rim and distributing the ball. L.A. is currently the third best scoring offense in the NBA, with an average of 117.7 points per game. Their current leading scorer is Tobias Harris who is averaging 21.6 points per game and has done a lot offensively all around. Overall, the Clippers have been a solid unit when it comes to offense, and they will need to keep that up going into Wednesday’s matchup.
Defensively the Clipper have been a middle of the pack to a lower end team. With their current rank being 23rd in the league as a defense they have some room to improve. Right now, they allow 112.9 points per game, and honestly that makes offense tough sometimes. Patrick Beverley has been a solid focal point for the Clippers defense and has shown so far this year that he can play that role for them. As a unit the Clippers need to improve but have shown that they can overcome large point gaps in must in games.
Coming off of a disappointing loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Grizzlies are hoping to bounce back in a big way Wednesday Night. The Grizzlies have still struggled on offense as of late. With an average of 104.4 points per game they are currently ranked 27th in league as an offense. Mike Conley is still sitting atop the leading scorers for the grizzlies with an average of 21.1 points per game. The Memphis Grizzlies need to step up on offense and try to create more transitional points from the stout defense that they have.
Defensively the Grizzlies have provided opposing teams a lot of issues. They are the third best team in the NBA for defense. As a defensive unit they are allowing teams an average of 103.1 per game. Although they are the worst team in the league when it comes to rebounding, at less than 40 rebound per game, the Grizzlies have been completely solid. Marc Gasol has been the rising star for Memphis on the defensive end of things. As a unit Memphis has nothing to worry about when it comes to defense, but how long can they keep their offense in it, is more of a concern.

A matchup of the 3rd best offense vs. the 3rd best defense in the league is a huge matchup for Wednesday Night. I think that the Clippers will get away with a win, in a close match that will be decided by more than two points. I also find the Over/Under to be very right tough to pick, but if I had to choose, I think I would hit the over. I would count on L. A’s offense more than I would count on Memphis defending them. Overall, I think we have a good matchup for a Wednesday Night and I would encourage sitting down and watching this matchup.
