NBA: Thursday, February 13, 2020 8:00 PM (Capital One Arena)
ML: Clippers +115, Celtics -135, Over/Under 228 (MyBookie)
Odds: Celtics -2 (MyBookie)
The Los Angeles Clippers couldn’t defeat the Philadelphia 76ers on the road on Tuesday, losing 103-110. Paul George was able to earn himself a double-double on the night with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Kawhi Leonard came close to a double-double on the night with 30 points and 9 assists. The clippers aren’t going to win games when only 3 players are coming off the bench to give your players a rest essentially. Only 3 players on the bench had at least 5 minutes on the court.
The Boston Celtics tried to keep up with the Houston Rockets on Tuesday but couldn’t keep up and lost 105-116. Jayson Tatum came close to a five by five on the night, earning 15 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals, and 1 block. Gordon Hayward and Daniel Theis both came close to a double-double, with Hayward earning 20 points and 8 rebounds, and Theis earning 11 points and 9 rebounds.
The Clippers are easily one of the best teams offensively in the NBA. To prove that point, some notable categories that the Clippers are highly ranked in is being 6th in points per game, 10th in 3-pointer percentage, and 3rd in rebounds. However, where they’re stellar on offense, the clippers are not as hot on defense with 21st in steals per game. Despite that, they still win on an average of 5.9 points.
Where the Clippers are one of the best offensive teams in the NBA, the Celtics are one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. Boston notably ranks 8th in turnovers per game, 7th in steals per game, and 7th in blocks per game. The Celtics have the same issue on the opposite side of the ball as the Clippers do on Offense, ranking 21st in assists per game, yet they still win by an average of 6.8 points per game

The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Boston’s last 11 games.
The offensive firepower of the Clippers or the defensive force of the Celtics, that is the question. If you had asked me this question 5 years ago of offense vs defense in the NBA, I would have said defense always stops the offense. However, times have changed to the point where 100 points in a game doesn’t guarantee a win anymore. The Clippers are going to come out with a narrow victory against the Clippers today.
