The Memphis Grizzlies choked against the Sacramento Kings yesterday after holding the lead in the first half, losing 125-129. No player for the Grizzlies had a real standout night, except for Ja Morant, Dillon Brooks, and Jaren Jackson Jr for the wrong reasons. Those three players had a combined 13 turnovers of the teams 19 total turnovers on the night. Other than that, however, the Grizzlies were just outplayed by the Kings.
The Los Angeles Lakers were able to hold of the Denver Nuggets in overtime last Wednesday, winning the game 120-116. King James added yet another Triple-Double to his illustrious career, earning 32 points, 14 assists, and 12 rebounds. AD and Dwight Howard were each able to earn a Double-Double on the night, with AD earning 33 point and 10 rebounds, and Howard earning 14 points and 11 rebounds.
To reiterate what I said yesterday, the Grizzlies are just barely alive in these playoff races. While the Grizzlies perform well in most categories, they are ranked 19th in 3-pointer percentage and 23rd in turnovers per game. Remember how I said that The Grizzlies are a solid 5.5 games ahead from the next possible team, so they should be fine? Well, they’re about to lose again and see that 5.5 game lead quickly diminish to 3.5 games ahead.
There is no team in the Western Conference that is better than the Lakers right now. The Lakers have the best away record in the NBA, let alone the West. They are in the top 10 for nearly every major category except for 3-pointer percentage and turnovers per game. They even win by an average of 7.4 points. Only one team has a higher +/- than the Lakers, and that’s the Bucks with an astounding +12.4. No team is stopping the Lakers path toward the Western Conference Championships.
Memphis are 2-4 SU in their last 6 games against LA Lakers.
The total has gone OVER in 6 of Memphis’ last 7 games on the road.
Memphis are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games this season.
LA Lakers are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games.
The total has gone OVER in 12 of LA Lakers’ last 16 games.
LA Lakers are 8-3 SU in their last 11 games at home.
If the Grizzlies couldn’t beat the Kings yesterday, they sure as hell won’t beat the Lakers tonight. AD and LeBron are going to have a field day against the Kings. This is a guaranteed blowout for the Lakers.
