ESPN NBA Picks Minnesota Timberwolves vs. New Orleans Pelicans
Both these teams are looking to play catch up and get a win to bring them closer to their playoff dreams. The Timberwolves are 20-22 and are ranked 13th in the Western Conference, a win could give them the momentum and boost they need to climb the ranks in the second half of the season. The Pelicans are also 20-22 and are ranked 11th in the Western Conference. They are currently on a three-game win streak and are looking to stretch that streak to four in this matchup.
The Timberwolves have shown they can play great basketball, they won three straight before being beat by the Dallas Mavericks. Andrew Wiggins had one of his best games against a stacked Oklahoma City Thunder team, scoring 40 points and grabbing 10 boards. In the loss to the Mavericks, Andrew Wiggins didn’t seem to bring that same fire and intensity to the court scoring 17 points on 7/17 shooting. Karl Anthony Towns did pick up some of the slack scoring 30 points and grabbing 11 boards, but in the end, it wasn’t enough to top the Mavericks.
Minnesota does have an advantage in this game, that is home court. They play very well at home with a record of 14-7. If Minnesota wants to pick up the win Karl Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins will have to step up not only offensively, but defensively as well. The Pelicans are ranked 3rd in scoring and the Timberwolves are a middle of the pack defensive team ranked 18th in points allowed per game. They will have to play a great defensive game and make the Pelicans take bad shots.
New Orleans is on a three-game win streak and they are looking to continue that win streak in this matchup. Anthony Davis is New Orleans leading man, averaging 28.9 PPG, 13.2 RPG and 2.7 BPG. He has had an incredible year so far and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon. In the Pelicans last matchup against the Timberwolves about two weeks ago the Pelicans were able to grab the win, with a score of 123-114. This Pelicans win came without Anthony Davis who rested that night. Julius Randle was the main guy in their last matchup scoring 33 points.
Anthony Davis will play tonight which will give the Pelicans more size and a great two-way player to help stop Karl Anthony Towns. Unfortunately for the Pelicans, they are playing away from home something they struggle with. Their away record is 5-16 and it has hampered them from being in the playoff race this season. The Pelicans will have to take advantage of the Timberwolves defense and use their speed and size to move the ball down court and look for fast break buckets.

ESPN NBA Scores New Orleans Pelicans vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
This matchup should be a scoring battle because they both have lower end defensive ratings. It will be a battle of the bigs tonight and I believe Anthony Davis will have the upper hand. Davis plays great defense and can get in the head of opposing players and I think he will be able to do that to Karl Anthony Towns who at times loses his confidence when playing other teams biggest stars. That being said the Pelicans struggle away from home and have only won one out of their last six away games. It is tough to pick a winner in this matchup, but the Pelicans are riding a win streak and will be coming into this matchup with a lot of confidence. The Pelicans should win and continue their win streak.
