New Orleans Pelicans(16-49) Vs.Atlanta Hawks (30-38)
NBA: Sunday, March 10, 2019 @ State Farm Arena
Spread: + 1 New Orleans Pelicans
Money Line: CLE: +100/ ATL: -120
The Atlanta Hawks clash with the New Orleans Pelicans tonight in what should be a Sunday night brawl. This is a highly unanticipated and high stakes matchup for both teams. Last season, when the Pelicans had Anthony Davis and the Hawks split their regular season series with the Pelican. However, the Hawks have progressed from last season
The Hawks have a talented young squad that features upcoming Trae Young, Alex Len, and John Collins. Along with Veterans like Vince Carter.
While the Hawks performed badly last season, the organization has made good moves in the postseason that put them in a good position to move up the ranks this coming season. A few seasons ago, the Hawks were ranked as the second best team in the East, however, after losing Al Horford and Kyle Korver, the team has struggle. No doubt, the Hawks are still in the rebuilding phase. However, with Lebron out of the East and many teams having such young squads, the Hawks could feasibly make a run in a few seasons to come. For now, they are still at the bottom of the Eastern conference.
Trae Young has definitely turned into an outstanding player. He still has a knack for passing the ball while in half-court. He will also be in a position to grow as the Hawks have no All-stars and Young has been getting adequate playing time. He has assume a leadership right from beginning.
The New Orleans Pelicans are having a rougher than a href=”https://coverthespread365.com/nba-picks/2018-19-nba-season-predictions/”>expected season. However, given their performance in the 2018 playoffs, it is easy for them to disappoint. Moreover, the turmoil surrounding Anthony Davis has definitely contributed to the team’s losing record.
The Pelicans have one of the most talented roster in the NBA including Anthony Davis, Julius Randle, Jrue Holiday, Elfrid Payton, Jahlil Okafor, Darius Miller, Stanley Johnson, and E’Twaun Moore.
The New Orlean Pelicans have had some touch-and-go moments against good teams this season. However, when the Pelicans play well they can beat any team in the NBA. And I mean any team!
The New Orleans Pelicans were able to pull off upsets against the Golden State Warriors, the Clippers, and the Raptors early in the season. For the New Orleans Pelicans, it is Anthony Davis that is key for their offense and defense. When Anthony Davis scores above 30, the Pelicans are nearly unbeaten this season.
This game will come down to how well Anthony Davis plays.
This Sunday night matchup between the Atlanta Hawks and Pelicans should be an exciting match up.The New Orleans Pelicans generally struggle on the road. This season alone they have lost 66% of their road games; many of these games were to better opponents than the Atlanta Hawks at home.
Similarly, the Atlanta Hawks struggle at home and have lost over 65% of their games at home.
Given that Anthony Davis is on a minutes restriction I expect the Hawks to be too tough of an opponent for the Pelicans on the road. I predict that the Hawks are going to pull off an upset and walk away with a hard fought win at Home!
