The Pelicans are coming off of a hard earned, double-overtime win on Saturday night against the Brooklyn Nets. They hope to add to the Pistons losing streak in an easier manner on Monday night.

The Pelicans last win did not come easily, a 20-point halftime lead quickly vanished, but the team still escaped Brooklyn with a 138-128 win. Anthony Davis put the team on his back with 44 points, 17 rebounds, six steals and three blocks, all while playing an astounding 49 minutes. The Pelicans are fighting for a lower-seed in the western conference playoff picture and have dropped games against teams fighting for a playoff spot similar to them. The team dropped games to the Timberwolves, Jazz and 76ers before snapping their skid against the Nets. Nikola Mirotic has made an immediate impact on the Pelicans since being acquired from the Bulls at the trade deadline. In four games with New Orleans, Mirotic is averaging 14 points and 9 rebounds and dropped 21 points with 16 rebounds in Saturday nights win. A win tonight for the Pelicans would sweep the season series against the Pistons, winning the first matchup 112-109 back on January 8th, in New Orleans. Anthony Davis will look for a similar performance in this game, he dropped 30 points in three quarters in last meeting with the Pistons before leaving the game with an ankle injury.

The Pistons are coming off an ugly loss to the Atlanta Hawks Saturday night, a team destined for the lottery. The 118-115 loss was the Pistons second straight game they’ve dropped, this coming after a five-game winning streak. Griffin contributed 23 points in the losing effort, but struggled shooting from the field, connecting on just 7 of his 21 shots. Point guard Jameer Nelson and small forward James Ennis III made their team debuts last game. Nelson tallied six points and five assists in 18 minutes of action while Ennis III posted 14 points, four rebounds and two steals in 23 minutes. While Nelson saw a good amount of playing time, both these guys can be expected to play a role in the Pistons moving forward as the team looks to make a push for the playoffs.

FREE NBA Pick New Orleans Pelicans vs. Detroit Pistons

The New Orleans Pelicans had a big loss when DeMarcus Cousins went down for the season. Anthony Davis is good enough to carry the team, but the Pistons are more well rounded and have more than just one option to go to on offense. Pistons get back on track with a win tonight against the Pelicans.

 Pick: Pistons -2.5

I gather #Pistons assistant GM Pat Garrity has played an integral role in franchise examining how it approaches injury prevention, training. Mentioned several times that #Pistons consultant Arnie Kander has played significant role this offseason .

Also I gather #Pistons power forward Jon Leuer (knee surgery) is expected to be ready by the season opener and franchise cautiously optimistic that he will be ready by the start of camp.

I gather #Pistons will conduct training camp in Ann Arbor on the University of Michigan campus. Team will stay there until camp breaks after the first week.

A little news at the start of my vacation ... Some confusion as to former #Pistons strength and conditioning Arnie Kander's role.I thought I was pretty clear. He decided to remain in consultant's role for #Pistons after being offered a permanent position.

The guy is going to argue with a guy who wrote about every SVG trade. Dinwiddie, Morris are the only trades where it can be debated #Pistons didn't get best player in the deal. Blake is better player in last deal. Contract size and injury history are the pitfalls.

Random note from last season: #Pelicans had the third-best record among West teams when facing the East, going 21-9. The only West teams better were Houston and Golden State, both 24-6. That area could be crucial for NOLA in a West race that many expect will again be very tight
