Free NBA Pick New Orleans Pelicans vs. Golden State Warriors
The New Orleans Pelicans were given a rude awakening to the 2nd round as the Warriors showed why they were the defending champions defeating them easily 123-101. The Pelicans will need to make quite a few adjustments on offense as Golden State has decided to put Draymond Green on Rajon Rondo and have Green play off Rondo and try to make him a shooter which isn’t his game. When doing this it also Green to fall back into the paint and limit Anthony Davis production as shown by his 21 points on 20 shots by far his worst game of the playoffs. The Pelicans will also need to find a way to get Jrue Holiday and Nikola Mirotic going as both shot below 35% from the field. New Orleans held tough in the 1st quarter but things went south in the 2nd as they were outscored 41-21 in the frame and never let posed a threat after that and scoring binges like that is something that the Pelicans have to limit and not allow to snowball too much.
The Golden State Warriors will get back starting point guard and 2-time MVP Stephen Curry. Curry will most likely take Nick Young’s place in the starting lineup and is said to not be on a minutes restriction in Game 2. Curry was held out of Game 1 while still recovering from an MCL sprain that has caused him to be missing from action since March 23. He wasn’t needed as the Warriors rolled easily with Klay Thompson finding his shot.

The Pelicans had a hard-enough time attempting to guard Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant in Game 1 and with the return of Steph Curry the task will get a lot tougher. The key for New Orleans could be trying to hunt Curry on defense and get him in foul trouble or winded as it has been so long since he last played. With this high of a line in the playoffs many will choose to take the points but with Oracle Arena getting into playoff mode and the shooters on the Warriors finally finding their stroke as well as Steph’s return the energy will be high and the pace fast which means more possessions. Golden State has finally showed up to this season and as much fun as seeing them pushed the truth is New Orleans just doesn’t have the firepower to match them.
