The New Orleans Pelicans trounced the Bulls on Wednesday, winning 123-108. Brandon Ingram was almost able to earn a triple-double, earning 29 points, 11 assist, and 8 rebounds. Jaxson Hayes was able to earn himself a double-double coming off the bench with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Nearly every player had a positive +/- rating on the night, have a team average +/- rating of 15. Unfortunately, Brandon Ingram jammed his finger in the contest.
The New York Knicks were trounced by the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, losing 104-128. At the very least, Bobby Portis had a double-double on the night, earning 13 points and 13 rebounds. Other than that, only 2 players had a positive +/- rating, earning a team +/- average rating of -24.
Despite the Pelicans record, they have been performing surprisingly well without Zion this season. The New Orleans Pelicans are in the top 10 for points per game, three pointer percentage, assist per game, 13th in blocks per game, and are 15th for rebounds per game. However, I’m not saying that the Pelicans are a good team either. Even though they do well in those categories, the Pelicans are still in the bottom 10 for field goal percentage, steals per game, +/- rating, and 20th in turnovers per game. The Pelicans aren’t good or bad; they’re just okay.
Unlike the Pelicans, the Knicks are just terrible in almost every way. The Knicks are in the bottom 5 for points per game, field goal percentage, assist per game, +/- rating, 19th in steals per game, and 20th in blocks per game. The lone bright spots for the Knicks are ranking in the top 10 for rebounds per game and turnovers per game. That doesn’t make up for their terrible play across the board though.

Even without Brandon Ingram or Jrue Holiday, the Pelicans are still the better team all around. Those injuries still do play a factor in how this game dictates. Expect the Pelicans to beat the Knicks in a close, low scoring game if Brandon Ingram doesn’t play. If Brandon Ingram does play, it’s a blowout for the Pelicans.
