Free NBA Pick Indiana Pacers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

The Pacers and Thunder are two of the top five teams in their respective conferences and will face off in what should be an exciting matchup on Thursday.

The Thunder are looking to win three straight games with a win over the Pacers tonight, but will be playing in their second game in as many days — a situation in which OKC has struggled this season. Still, the Thunder are one of the NBA’s best teams on the back of their elite defense and capable offense led by stars Russell Westbrook and Paul George. Although the Thunder don’t run the most efficient offense (15th in the league in offensive rating), Oklahoma City scores the fourth most points per game as a result of their breakneck pace (third highest pace in the NBA) and paint-heavy offense. Oklahoma City really shines on the defensive side of the ball though, where the Thunder own the league’s third best defensive rating, force the most turnovers in the league, and rebound well. Poor three point shooting and mediocre defense inside can hold the Thunder back, but OKC is still one of the league’s elite teams.

The Pacers have held up surprising well since losing Victor Oladipo earlier this year, but they’ve struggled of late and have lost five of their last eight games. Oklahoma City and Indiana are remarkably similar when comparing efficiency numbers (Indiana ranks second in defensive rating and 16th in offensive rating), but the Pacers’ offense averages just 108.2 points per game, ranking 21st in the NBA. Although the Pacers’ offense (relatively) rarely misses shots (the Pacers rank among the NBA’s top ten teams in field goal percentage and offensive field goal percentage), Indiana ranks among the bottom ten teams in pace. The Pacers are a very strong defensive team, but crucially struggle to defend the paint and don’t rebound particularly well.

Free NBA Pick Indiana Pacers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

The Pacers and Thunder are similar teams in many respects, but Steven Adams should be able to pound the offensive glass and the Thunder should have little trouble accumulating points by forcing turnovers and running fast-breaks.
