The Thunder and Timberwolves will face off on Sunday in what should be an exciting matchup at the Target Center.

The Timberwolves come into this game having won two straight, but Minnesota has dropped six of its last ten games and have just two wins over playoff bound teams since mid-February. Minnesota is a roughly average offensive team that relies heavily on Karl-Anthony Towns and rarely attempts three point shots and gets to the foul line frequently. The Timberwolves rank among the league’s worst defensive teams though, and are particularly ineffective at defending opposing three point shooters as no team allows a higher opponent three point shooting percentage. The Timberwolves are also a disappointing team on the defensive glass; despite ranking near the top of the league in offensive rebounds per game (on the back of Towns’ 3.4 offensive rebounds per game), the Timberwolves allow more second chance points than any team besides the Suns and own the NBA’s fourth worst defensive rebounding rate.

The Thunder have been in a slump recently but come into this game having won a pair of games in a row and will look to keep their momentum going against the Timberwolves on Sunday. Although the Thunder primarily rely on their defense (fourth best defensive rating in the NBA, most steals per game in the league) to win games, Oklahoma City also boasts a solid offense that ranks eighth in the league in points per game. The Thunder offense is largely built around attacking the paint, and Oklahoma City is one of the worst three point shooting teams in the NBA with a 34.5% three point shooting percentage. Oklahoma City is a strong rebounding team that leads the league in offensive rebounds per game (thanks to Steven Adams) and rarely allows second chance points to opponents.
