Phoenix Suns (16-23) vs Atlanta Hawks (8-32)
NBA: Tuesday, January 14, 2020 7:30 PM (State Farm Arena)
ML: Suns -165, Hawks +140, Over/Under 230.5 (MyBookie)
Odds: Suns -3.5 (MyBookie)
The Phoenix Suns were able to defeat the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday, winning 100-92. Kelly Oubre Jr had a good day, earning a double-double with 25 points and 15 rebounds. Deandre Ayton, Devin Booker, and Ricky Rubio almost had a double-double, with Deandre earning 18 points and 9 rebounds, Booker earning 12 points and 9 assists, and Rubio earning 10 points and 9 assists on the night.
The Atlanta Hawks were blown out by the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday, losing 108-86. The only positive thing that I could say about the Hawks on that night was Cam Reddish earning 5 steals. Otherwise, it was a night to forget for the Hawks.
Despite the Suns bad record, they’re not a terrible team. The Suns are 10 in points earned per game, 10th in field goal percentage, 2nd in assist per game, 14th in steals per game, and 2nd in personal fouls drawn. It also helps that they have Devin Booker on the team, who is one of the 3 players in the top 10 for scoring with a field goal percentage over 50%. The Suns shouldn’t have too much of a problem with the Hawks tonight.
Despite the Hawks atrocious record, they’re the worst team in the NBA. The Hawks are only above break 20th in 3 categories, steals per game (8th-8.2), blocks per game (11th-5.1), and personal fouls drawn (17th-20.6). They are lucky that they were able to draft Trae Young. However, they did trade away Luka Doncic to draft Trae Young, but that debate would be an article by itself as to which player would be better for Atlanta.
The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Phoenix’s last 6 games.
Phoenix are 5-11 SU in their last 16 games.
Phoenix are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 games against Atlanta.
The total has gone UNDER in 6 of Atlanta’s last 9 games.
Atlanta are 2-15 SU in their last 17 games.
The total has gone UNDER in 9 of Atlanta’s last 12 games against Phoenix.
It’s simple here, the Atlanta Hawks are a terrible team all around. Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns are an alright team on offense. The only way the Hawks win this game is if Trae Young has the best game of his career tonight. Expect the game to be close thanks to Trae Young.
