Free NBA Playoff Picks Portland Trail Blazers Vs. Golden State Warriors

In game one of the Western Conference Finals, the Blazers head to Oakland to take on the Warriors. Will the Blazers strike first and steal home court? Or will Golden State take a 1-0 lead?

Golden State Warriors

The Warriors will be without Kevin Durant tonight, however his absence was no problem for the team in game six against the Rockets. In that game, Steve Kerr got great minutes from bench players like Kevon Looney, Jordan Bell, Shaun Livingston and Quinn Cook. Despite Steph Curry having 0 points at the half, the team managed to keep the game tied. Curry came alive in the second half, exploding for 33 points to knock Houston out on the road.

Both teams have elite back courts, and whether or not the Warriors can take game one will depend on their guard play. Curry was a no-show in the second round until the second half of game five after KD went down with a calf injury. Klay Thompson was not much better, however he did have an elite first half in game six. If game six first half Klay and game six second half Curry both show up tonight for the entire game, the Warriors will win easily.

Portland Trail Blazers

Most expected the Blazers to get knocked out in the first round, and once they made it to the semifinals, most also had the Nuggets winning out. Portland has already exceeded expectations by making it this far, however they’re confident that they’ll beat the Warriors and make the NBA Finals.

As previously mentioned, the key to this series is guard play. In the clinching game seven on the road against the Nuggets, CJ McCollum was incredible, while Lillard was not. Although Lillard didn’t score much in that game, he did a good job of deferring to his co-star who was red hot the entire night. If the Blazers can get round one Dame and round two McCollum to show up at the same time, they’ll easily match the firepower of the Splash Brothers.

Another key for the Blazers will be the play of guys like Zach Collins, who was tremendous in game seven, Enes Kanter, who has been great the entire playoffs, and Rodney Hood, who should play tonight despite suffering a knee hyper-extension. Hood was a no show in round one, however he was key to the Blazers series win over the Nuggets. Also look for Seth Curry, who hasn’t had a great playoffs to step up his play against his older brother.

NBA Scores Golden State Warriors Vs. Portland Trail Blazers

While Golden State has had the Blazers’ number in their last few playoff series, this year’s Portland team is different than in years past. I don’t foresee a blowout this game, and I’m taking the Blazers to play spoiler on the road and at the very least cover the spread.
