In this Western conference matchup, the Sacramento Kings will travel to Utah to take on the Jazz. The Kings are coming off a 117-104 win versus the Cavaliers, but only have two of their last five, as they intend to wrap up an overall decent season. The Jazz are on a roll, winning 6 straight games as they try to gain the best position possible for the start of the playoffs on April 14. In their latest win, they defeated the Suns 118-97.

The Sacramento Kings currently sit at ninth place in the Western conference, one game within .500, which according to many will be a massive improvement and something to build for next year. Against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday, they overcame a 25-point loss from their previous matchup and defeated the Cavs with ease 117-104, behind Buddy Hield’s 23 points from 9/16 shooting and De’Aaron Fox, who achieved yet another double-double with a game-high 10 assists and 16 points. Willie Cauley-Stein, who will absent in tonight’s game at Utah, grabbed a team-high 9 rebounds. Buddy Hield, who had a decent shooting night from beyond the arc, is six 3’s away from Damian Lillard’s NBA record of most 3’s in their first three seasons, so the third year man will attempt to make history tonight. Marvin Bagley III, who will fill in for the shoes of Cauley-Stein, chipped in for 15 points as well as Bogdan Bogdanovic, two young players who will benefit with the increased playing time. Hield currently leads the Kings this season with 21.0 PPG on 46.0 FG%, while Fox leads with 7.3 APG.

The Utah Jazz currently sit at the fifth spot in the Western conference, two games behind the Portland TrailBlazers and 1.5 games ahead of the Los Angeles Clippers. In their attempt to win their seventh straight game, Utah will face an intriguing obstacle in the Sacramento Kings, who have been relatively up-and-down this season. In the Jazz’s latest win versus the Phoenix Suns, Donovan Mitchell and Joe Ingles led the way in scoring with 29 and 27 points respectively, while Mitchell shot 9/19 from the field. Rudy Gobert led the game in rebounds with thirteen, while Ingles led in assists with eight. With the playoffs looming, it seems as though injuries will be a somewhat major concern for Utah, as Ricky Rubio, Jae Crowder, Derrick Favors and Kyle Korver were all absent, while Raul Neto tweaked an ankle and is listed as questionable for tonight’s game. In their attempt to use the “next man up” mentality, still expect Mitchell, Ingles, and Gobert to carry a significant load once again against a better opponent. Donovan Mitchell currently leads the Jazz this season with 23.5 PPG while shooting at 43.1 FG%, while Rudy Gobert leads with 12.9 RPG, 3.8 of which are offensive rebounds.

With the Kings having nothing to play for, and star rookie Marvin Bagley to play extended minutes, expect the Kings to put up a good effort but still come up short tonight. On the other hand, with the injuries that the Jazz are suffering from, it will be tough for Utah to utilize their role players, who are currently resting while looking forward to the playoffs. The Utah Jazz should get the win, but don’t expect them to cover the spread against an electrifying Kings team.
