San Antonio Spurs vs. Golden State Warriors

San Antonio Spurs (47-35) vs Golden State Warriors (58-24)

NBA Basketball: Saturday, April 14th, 2018, 3:00 PM @ Oracle Arena

Line: Golden State Warriors -1000      Spread: Warriors -8      Over/Under: 206

And so the Western Conference Playoffs begin. What better way to kick off the first round than a match up between the ageless San Antonio Spurs and the defending champion Golden State Warriors? This is going to be a close one. Not just tonight but for the entire season. The Warriors head into the game coming off of a 40 point beat down at the hands of the surging Utah Jazz. While the San Antonio Spurs come into the game having won 10 of their last 15 games.

The San Antonio Spurs are coming in led by two oak trees names LaMarcus Aldridge and Pau Gasol. Aldridge leads the team in both points and rebounds with 23.1 and 8.5 respectively. He also contributes 1.2 blocks per game. Gasol, while nowhere near what he was in his prime, still manages to put up 10.1 points per game and 8 rebounds per game. The Spurs continue to be without Kawhi Leonard who has missed all but 9 games this season and shows no signs of coming back this year though rumors have swirled that he was going to give it a go in the post season. They will need all the help they can get if they look to defeat the Warriors tonight.

The Golden State Warriors have fallen hard since the loss of Steph Curry to injury. They are going to need someone to step up and become a leader. One would hope that leader to be Kevin Durant of course. Durant leads the team in points per game with 26.4 and blocks per game with 1.8. He also averages 6.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game. He is by far the best player on the team but does he have the leadership ability to lift the Warriors to the next round? Draymond Green and Klay Thompsoon will need to help KD in adjusting to that role if they look to have success in the playoffs. It all starts tomorrow in Game 1 of this series.

Current Trends courtesy of CTS365:

San Antonio is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games against Golden State

San Antonio is 1-8 SU in their last 9 games against the Warriors

Golden State is 6-15 ATS in their last 21 games

Total has gone OVER in 5 of the last 6 games between these two teams

The Golden State Warriors looked atrocious against the Utah Jazz last game as they lost by 40 points. They could find no offense beyond Kevin Durant. That is not going to hold up against these San Antonio Spurs. They have been here and done that for years now. They have also been playing really well as of late. That is why I am laying all my chips on the San Antonio Spurs +8. Assuming the Warriors figure it out, they are 6-15 ATS in their last 21 which is not a good sign. Good luck and as always, remember to read our other free NBA picks at ! You will not be sorry!!!
