The Knicks continue their downward trend on a season that came to a crashing halt when Kristaps Porzingis was lost for the season. The schedule doesn’t get any easier on Sunday when they welcome the East leading Toronto Raptors into town.

The Raptors are among one of two of the hottest teams in the league, with a seven game winning streak, only the Portland Trailblazers have a longer active one at nine games. The highlight of Toronto’s winning streak came Friday night when they beat the Houston Rockets and ended their league high 17-game winning streak. The Raptors currently have a 2.5 game lead in the Eastern Conference over the Boston Celtics and have their best chance in franchise history at finishing the season as the No. 1 seed. A large part of the Raptors success as of late has been because of the play by Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan in the backcourt, if they continue to play the way they have been, there is no telling what the limits could be for Toronto.

The Knicks are heading in the opposite direction as Toronto right now and are looking ahead to their future as opposed to a race for the playoffs. The real struggles for New York began at the end of January, since January 21st, the Knicks are just 3-17 and have clinched their fifth consecutive losing season. In that span, the Knicks have played at home just six times so while it will be a welcome sign to be back at the Madison Square Garden, playing Toronto probably isn’t the first team New York would like to see right now. The Knicks are coming off a 120-112 loss to the Bucks Friday night, while it was a good sign to see their offense come to life, their defense failed them yet again. The play of Tim Hardaway Jr. has been impressive as of late, scoring at least 20 points in two of the teams last three games and was the high scorer with 26 points in Fridays loss.

The Raptors continue to defy odds and are a threat to be taken seriously in the Eastern Conference. While these types of games can be surprise losses, this Knicks team is way too low right now to pull of that kind of upset. Raptors keeping the ball rolling and get a win at New York this afternoon.
