The Utah Jazz and Toronto Raptors begin the month of December with an epic showdown. Both teams have largely impressed this season, establishing themselves as playoff teams and the Raptors, despite losing Kawhi Leonard, seem to have a legitimate shot at defending their title from last season. The Jazz come into this one off a win over the Memphis Grizzlies after suffering back to back losses to the Bucks and Pacers. The Raptors are on a six-game winning streak, propelling them into second place in the Eastern Conference behind only the Milwaukee Bucks. It has all the ingredients for a very tantalizing game.

The Utah Jazz come into this game trying to build momentum after bouncing back from consecutive losses with a win against the Grizzlies. A strong defensive showing was what they needed to propel themselves to victory and they'd be hoping to maintain such form defensively to stand any chance against the Raptors. Allowing 120 or more points in each of their last three games prior to the game against the Grizzlies isn't encouraging expecting to hold onto a playoff position. Against the Grizzlies, Bogdanovic matched his season-high scoring mark with 33 points, going 12 of 20 from the field, including 4 of 8 from 3-point range. Donovan Mitchell added 20 points and Rudy Gobert had 13 points, 13 rebounds and 2 blocks.

The Toronto Raptors extended their winning streak to six games with a 90-83 victory over the Orlando Magic on Friday and will have to navigate a tough schedule in December that will see them face off against 10 teams with a winning record. The game against the Magic saw Norman Powell pour in 33 points to drive the Raptors to victory on a night when the shots weren't dropping. Fred Van Vleet added 22 points while Pascal Siakam had a rare bad night although he still added 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Utah averages just 106.6 points per game and are going up against a Raptors defense that has held opponents to scoring 103.8 points per game and limit the opposition to making just 40.3% of their field goals so far, making them a top-five defense in the league. For a team that relies heavily on just 2 players for production on offense (Bojan Bogdanovic and Donovan Mitchell average 22.1 and 25.3 points per game respectively. Only two other teammates average double figures.) it would take a lot to knock off the surging Raptors.
