Alabama closes its two-game road trip when it travels to Starkville, Miss., where it will take on Mississippi State. It will mark the second meeting of the year between the two teams. In the first meeting, the Crimson Tide captured an 83-79 victory over the then-No. 20 ranked Bulldogs on Jan. 29 at home. The Bulldogs are looking for a win after two  tough losses to LSU and Kentucky.

Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama is coming off a 77-67 win over Vanderbilt. Clutch free throws and a season-high 12 three-pointers sealed the victory. It was a game they should have won, Vanderbilt is winless in the conference. The Crimson Tide dominated the game having the lead for 36 of the 40 minutes to push to a 15-3 record this season when scoring 70 points. Freshman Kira Lewis Jr. led Alabama with 18 points in the game, while Riley Norris registered his first double-double of the season, posting 15 points and 12 rebounds. The reserves have been a big part of this program’s success so far in the season. They average 27 points per game and outscored the Vandy bench 26-12. The tide is one of the best in rebounds 38.7 is good enough for third in the SEC and top 50 in the nation. Winners of three of their last four, it seems the Tide is ready to Roll.

Mississippi State Bulldogs

After four point loses to both LSU and Kentucky, Mississippi State will look to get back in the win column against Alabama. In their last game, they fell to no.5 ranked Kentucky but put up a fight erasing an 18-point deficit only to lose by four. In the Loss,  Lamar Peters (16) and Quinndary Weatherspoon (14) combined for 30 points. The duo also accounted for five of MSU’s seven steals on the night. If the Bulldogs have any shot at winning on Tuesday, these two will have to play a big part once again. If the Bulldogs can have the same fight they did on Saturday, they can take care of the Tide. Last time against Alabama on January 29th, it was similar to the previous two games for MSU. The Bulldogs had a huge deficit to overcome and they were close but fell short and lost by four, 83-79.

Alabama has been on a roll lately winning three of their last four games. They do struggle on the road with a 3-5 record but they recently faced the Bulldogs and won. Except that game was in ‘Bama territory where they are just about unstoppable. Mississippi State has lost two in a row and four of their last six. The Bulldogs are 10-3 at home but, after the two straight losses to ranked teams, they are 2-3 at home in conference play. The spread is in favor of Mississippi State, however the bench of Alabama could be too much to handle. The Tide have just been playing better as of late and i can see them handing the Bulldogs their third straight loss.

PICK:Mississippi State -5.5
