Free NCAA BB Pick Boise State Broncos vs Nevada Wolfpack
Round 1 of the Mountain West Conference championship commenced yesterday. The Boise State Broncos participated and beat the Colorado State Rams, 66-57. As a #1 seed, the Nevada Wolfpack got a first round bye. These teams competed against each other twice during the regular season, the Wolfpack won both games.
The Broncos went on a 6-game skid before finally beating Air Force, and following up that win with a win most recently against Colorado State. Senior guard Zach Haney scored 16 points against the Rams and dominated the offensive glass with 4 offensive rebounds. Sophomore guard Derrick Alston scored a team-high 17. Alston remains on fire, in the last four games, he averages 20.7 points with a 40.7 3P%. He averaged 13 points during the season. The Broncos won with their efficiency, (51.2 FG%, 79.4 FT%) and their ability to create turnovers (9 steals).
Nevada only lost three games during the regular season. Two of those loses came in the last 5 games they played. After losing to San Diego State in their first meeting, the Wolfpack met them again in their final game of the season. Nevada devastated the Aztecs, 81-53. Like many of their games, their senior forwards, the Martin twins led them in this victory. Caleb Martin scored a game-high 25 points, with 6 rebounds and 7 assists. He averages 19.6 points per game. Cody Martin scored a neat 14 points. Senior forward Jordan Caroline dominated the glass with 12 rebounds, coupled with 16 points. The Wolfpack limited the Aztecs to under 35 FG%. Nevada leads the MWC in both offensive points per game and defensive points per game.

Free NCAA BB Pick Nevada Wolfpack vs Boise State Broncos
Boise State finished the season well below an even record. Although they showed improvement in conference play, particularly of late, they still rank among the worst in their conference in most categories that matter. Nevada on the other hand finished the season as the only nationally ranked team in the MWC. They beat San Diego State by a huge margin (like most games they played in). Even if the Wolfpack have been prone to the upset, especially as they tried to close out the season, I don’t see them losing in the first round of the conference championship – or any round of the conference championship. I’m going with the spread, and picking Nevada.
My Pick: Nevada (-11.5)
