Buffalo

Buffalo earned their 20th win of the season Saturday after defeating Central Michigan, 90-76. It is the fourth time in the last five years that the Bulls have won 20+ games in a season. In the latest AP Poll, Buffalo ranks as the 25th best basketball team in the nation. They have consistently been ranked as a Top-25 team for the last 14 weeks, the longest in the MAC.

The Bulls are currently ninth in the nation in scoring offense with 85.0 points per game. They scored 80+ points in 16 of the 23 games played this season, which is the third highest in the country. The last time Buffalo met Akron in their arena, they won in an 87-65 victory. They lost four straight at Akron before last year’s win.

Akron

After winning against Kent State 72-53, Akron now has a conference record of 6-4 while winning four of the last five games. The Zips are 11-1 this season at home with their one loss being a one-point game. They earned the 14th ranked spot in the country in scoring defense, only allowing 62.0 points per game.

Akron has four players averaging double-doubles this season. Leading the Zips is junior forward, Daniel Utomi, who averages 13.9 points per game. His teammate, Loren Christian Jackson, averages 13.4 points while Jimond Ivey is averaging 13.3 points. Ivey leads the team in rebounds with 6.7 rebounds per game. A win against the Bulls will be the first victory against a Top-25 team for the Zips.
