The North Carolina Tar Heels will not have to travel far when they face the Davidson Wilcats tonight.
One of the more highly regarded programs in the country, the defending champs are currently ranked #13 in the country with a 6-1 record. Their lone loss was to the Michigan State Spartans, who are currently ranked #3 in the nation. Although the loss was rather disheartening, they were able to beat the Michigan Wolverines in the very next game. In that game, Luke Maye was the leading scorer with 27 points along with six rebounds and a few assists. Joel Berry II was the closest to Maye with 17 points of his own to complement five rebounds and four assists. Sterling Manley came off the bench with six rebounds, a block, and four points. UNC was able to shoot well over 50% from the field and 46.7% from three point land, which was 17.3% better than Michigan. Throughout the season, Maye is nearly averaging a double-double with 20.1 points and 9.4 assists per game.
The Davidson Wildcats will be looking for a huge upset at home and improve their 4-2 record. After winning their first three games, they have dropped the last two out of three. This will be a test beyond anything the team has seen yet this season. In their most recent game, an 85-70 victory against Charlotte, Peyton Aldridge led the way with 25 points. Kellan Grady chipped in 22, and Jon Axel Gudmundsson had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Rusty Reigel was the lone player on the team to come off the bench and score in double-digits. Despite a less than impressive 27.6 shooting percentage from beyond the arc, they were able to shoot 51.6% from the floor.

Considering both teams score at least 85 points per game or more as a team, the over should be pretty high in this one. However, the Tar Heels managed only 45 points against Michigan State. Nevertheless, the team UNC will be playing is very different from the Spartans. Due to the Wildcats being able to consistently score, they shouldn’t lose by double-digits.
