On February 10th, 2018, Georgetown defeated Seton Hall, 83-80. The Hoyas almost completely gave up a 17-point lead as the Pirates came back roaring in the second half as the first half was a lack luster for them. Despite the second half collapse, the Hoyas hung on to seal the deal. They shot well from the field as they shot 32-62 (51.6%). However, they shot poorly from three-point range, 6-19 (31.6%). Seton Hall shot decently as they connected 31-68 (45.6%) and great from three-point range, 9-22 (40.9%).  Marcus Derrickson, former Hoyas, led all scorers with 22 points and 18 rebounds.

Georgetown Hoyas (15-9)

THe Hoyas have done just enough to stay float this season. The Hoyas have been struggling since the turn into then new year. They have lost most of their games. To be exact, of the ten games they have played, they won four of them. The reasons for their subpar play in 2019 are: FG%: 44.9% (167th), 2P%: 49.8% (219th), and ORB:259 (123rd). Their weaknesses have been highlighted as these are the main reasons why they have only coughed up four wins within 2019. The Hoyas has the scoring punch to stay within any game as they average 81.5 points per game, ranking 28th in the nation. Behind their scoring punch are: Jessie Govan (18 PPG, 7.9 RPG, & 3P%:43.4%), Mac McClung (13.6 PPG), and  James Akinjo (13.4 PPG & 5.3 APG). In order for the Hoyas to defeat Seton Hall, they will need these three guys to step up if they want to regain momentum as the latter part of the season is approaching. However, the Hoyas’ bench will need to also step up to help supplement the effort of their three best scorers. The ingredients to defeating Seton Hall is to play well-rounded efficient offense in addition really crashing the boards in order to truly win the matchup.

Seton Hall Pirates (14-9)

Similarly to Georgetown, Seton Hall have also been subpar in 2019. No true consistency as their scoring offense has been the problem for them throughout the season. The Pirates average 73.1 points per game, 173rd in the nation. They have only two scorers averaging 10+ points, with their leading scorer, Myles Powell, averaging 21.1 points. The Pirates do have more bench depth than the Hoyas. However, though, in order for the Pirates to gain an edge over the Hoyas, they will need to take advantage of the Hoyas’ weaknesses such as: FG%: 44.9%, 2P%: 49.8% (219th), and ORB: 259 (123rd). In addition to these weaknesses, the Hoyas allow opponents to average 77.4 points per game, 308th in the nation. The Hoyas are also turnover prone as they have turned the ball over 331 times, ranking 230th in the nation. The Pirates will need to limit the Hoyas’ scoring opportunities, mainly three-point shots, free throws, and ball movement as these are key strengths of the Hoyas.’ If the Pirates can limit the Hoyas’ scoring opportunities, then they have a good chance of claiming victory in this contest.

FREE NCAA BB Prediction Georgetown Hoyas vs Seton Hall Pirates

This will be a tight matchup as the Pirates will put up a fight, especially in attempt to put up points to keep up with the Hoyas. However, the Hoyas are not a good defensive team as rank as one of the worst defenses in the name. In contrast, this is a strength of the Pirates. However, with the Hoyas’ scoring punch, they will have enough to overtake the Pirates in this contest.

Pick: Seton Hall -4; Under 156
