Kansas Jayhawks vs. Iowa State Cyclones

Kansas Jayhawks (19-6, 8-4 Big 12) vs. Iowa State Cyclones (13-11, 4-8 Big 12)

NCAAM: Tuesday, February 13th, 2018, 7:00 PM ET | Hilton Coliseum

Line and Odds: Kansas -6.5 Over/Under: 151

Kansas (19-6, 8-4 Big 12) is coming off a road loss to Baylor over the weekend. They did not play well as the Bears beat them by 16. They have lost 2 of their last 3 and their stranglehold on the Big 12 is in serious jeopardy this year with the play of league leading Texas Tech. They trail the Red Raiders by 1 game in the Big 12 standings. The Jayhawks desperately need the win tonight against the Cyclones as they enter arguably the toughest part of their schedule coming up. After playing Iowa State tonight they have a brutal stretch where they play 3 straight ranked teams in, West Virginia, Oklahoma and then the big match up with Texas Tech. That game could decide the Big 12 champion but not if the Jayhawks slip up between now and then. The Jayhawks are a balanced scoring team as they have 5 guys averaging double figures and are led by Devonte Graham with 17.7 ppg. As a team they are 34th in the nation in scoring at 81.7 ppg.

Iowa State (13-11, 4-8 Big 12) is just 4-9 in their last 13 games, but 3 of those wins were against Texas Tech, West Virginia and Oklahoma. All of whom were ranked. But when they lose they have a tendency to get blown out. Six of their 9 losses in this stretch have been by double digits and 2 of them by over 20. It seems they either upset a top team or they get thumped. The Cyclones are 4-2 at home in the Big 12 this year. They are led by Lindell Wiggington who is averaging 16.3 ppg. They Cyclones biggest problem (which would be any teams) is they give up more points a game 74 then they score 73.6. You are not going to have a great record when you do that. But somehow they are over .500.

Kansas won their first matchup at Allen Fieldhouse by 5 on January 9th. Since then Iowa State has lost more than they have won, but have been a giant slayer when they have won. Which Iowa State team will show up? The one that takes down ranked opponents are the one that gets blown off the court? Kansas needs to not overlook the Cyclones as they get ready for a very tough stretch. I think Kansas does start peeking to the next stretch and this game remains close. Kansas will pull it out in the end, but Iowa State covers. Take the over and take Iowa State to cover.

Man, when does @KUHoops season start? This Chiefs team is already giving me indigestion. 🤢🤮

Another great showing in KC for our KU Kickoff! #kualumni @kuhoops @kunews #kufball @ Corinth Square Shops https://t.co/AyFfWMX62P

This is getting sad. Some top recruits leaving @KUHoops on their final lists out of sympathy and probably at the request of his dad to cover up whatever was going on when he was there. This has been going on a long time folks.
