The Notre Dame Fighting Irish travel to East Lansing to face the Michigan State Spartans in a top 10 showdown. This ACC/BIG 1O Challenge will be broadcasted on ESPN.

Notre Dame and Michigan State will get together for the 97th time tonight in East Lansing.  Notre Dame has not played in the Bresiln Center since 1974.  This is only the second time since 1979 that the BIG 10/ACC Challenge is pitting two teams listed in the top 10. Michigan State comes into this game winning four of their five games by an average of 22.8 points. Notre Dame comes into this game undefeated, winning five of their six games by an average of 29 points per game. This basketball game even though it is early, should be measuring sticks for both programs.

Notre Dame comes into this game 6-0 and look liking a contender early in the season.  Last Wednesday the Fighting Irish edged out Wichita State 67-66.  Notre Dame shot 49 percent from the field, went 13-17 from the free throw line and forced 10 turnovers.  Bonzie Colson has a monster game, scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks, 2 steals and an assist.  Matt Farrell added 15 points and 4 assists. Coming into this game the Golden Domers are avgerigng 84.5 points a game and they are giving up 60.2 points a game. Notre Dame is also averaging 52.8 percent shooting and 37 rebounds a game.  Bonzie Colson is the best player on this team. Colson is putting up 20 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.3 rebounds per game.Colson, who is a machine has three double doubles this year. Matt Farrell is averaging 17.5 points and 4.3 assist a game.  TJ Gibbs is averaging 15.5 points and 2.3 assists a game as well.

The Michigan State Spartans come into this game 5-1 and looking like a contender as for a championship. Last Sunday, the Spartans beat the North Carolina Tar Heels 63-45.  Michigan State defense was outstanding, holding the Tar Heels to 24.6 percent shooting from the field and an awful 5.6 from the three point line. Tom Izzo is 4-0 against defending champions. Joshua Langford led Michigan State in scoring with 23 points. The Spartans defense was awesome in Oregon, only giving up a total of 153 points in three total games. Michigan State comes into this game averaging 80.8 points and giving up 63 points a game. Miles Bridges is putting up 15.2 points per game.

The Fighting Irish are 3-1 ATS and the Spartans are 4-2 ATS this season.

This should be a very good game. Both of these teams are ranked in the top 10 and looking for statement wins. In this game I will lean toward Michigan State. Michigan destroyed the defending champ North Carolina 63-45. UNC   could not throw the ball in the ocean, that’s how good the Spartans defense was.  The Spartans at this point are more battle tested; they will be playing their third top 10 this season. Michigan State will win this game 81-73, take the Spartans
