The Minnesota Gophers defeated the Penn State Nittany Lions in overtime 77-72 to get a berth in the quarterfinal. Minnesota needed a crazy effort from Amir Coffey where he scored 10 of his 22 in the final minute after struggling for most of the game. Coffey has had a hard time from three this season shooting only 30.4% from three after shooting 36.8% last season. Minnesota has struggled as opponents are 9th in the conference in 3-point and are terrible at defending from the field allowing opponents to shoot 49.5% from inside the arc. The Golden Gophers have been great at getting to the line and are leading the Big Ten in total free throw attempts in conference play.

The Purdue Boilermakers shared the Big Ten regular season title with Michigan State and had Matt Painter named the conference coach of the year. The Boilermakers have been led by Carsen Edwards who is averaging 23.4 points per game 1.5 steals a game to lead the conference in each category. Matt Haarms has played a big factor for Purdue leading the conference in field goal percentage at 62% and he sits 2nd in blocks per game with 2.1 despite only playing 21.2 minutes a game. The Boilermakers have taken care of the ball only turning the ball over 10.71 times per game which is 19th in the country. Purdue has only allowed 66.5 points a game in Big Ten play where they went 16-4 and is 8-2 in their last ten games.

NCAA Basketball Scores Minnesota Gophers vs. Purdue Boilermakers

These teams are meeting for the third with each team winning home with Minnesota winning the most recent game on March 5th 73-69 and got off to a quick start with a 37-27 halftime lead. Getting off to another great start will be very important to give them an edge. Both teams should be in the NCAA Tournament as the win over Penn State probably sealed as a place in the tournament for the Golden Gophers. Purdue needs to win to help improve their seeding as they are currently projected as a 3 seed. Edwards should have a big game as he looks to improve his draft stock and should continue his run of dominance in the Big Ten. Purdue is the best 3-point shooting team in the conference making 36.3% and lead the conference in offensive rebounding as well. Purdue should have a good night from three and should be good on defense as Minnesota should struggle to score against a very good Boilermaker defense and Purdue should have a great shooting night from behind the arc.

Pick: Purdue Boilermakers -380
