Boise State Broncos vs. Oregon Ducks

Oregon Ducks (5-2) vs Boise State Broncos (6-1)

College Basketball: Friday December 1st, 2017, 9:30 PM ET | Matthew Knight Arena

Line: Oregon Ducks -6.5

Over/Under: 146

The Boise State Broncos will be looking to continue their hot start and prove to viewers they can be a contender in both the Mountain West Conference, as well as, compete for a spot in the NCAA tournament in March. Although it is very early in the season the committee looks at every game, so the Broncos will need to win against a quality opponent to gain favor with the committee. The Broncos have played a very weak non-conference schedule so far with the only opponent worth noting being Iowa State. It is also worth mentioning that Iowa State has been their only loss. They also have not played an away game yet, so tonight will be a test of whether or not they can handle a rowdy crowd in Oregon. In the first seven games Justnian Jessup has emerged as the top scorer for the Broncos and is averaging 14.7 points per game. He is shooting 50% from the field, 90% from the free throw line and 50% from the three point range, so he will likely be the go to guy in tonight’s game.

The Oregon Ducks had a disappointing end to the PK80 tournament where they ended up finishing in 6th place. They went 1-2 in this tournament and will look to bounce back when they return home tonight. The Ducks have been led so far by Payton Pritchard, who is averaging 14.7 points per game. The Ducks are definitely not the team they were when they made the Final Four last season and it has shown because of some of their early struggles against quality opponents. Tonight the Ducks will need to focus on taking care of the ball as they had 17 turnovers last time out against the Oklahoma Sooners. They will need to use the energy of their home crowd to go on some runs and try to put Boise State down big early on in the game.

Oregon Ducks

(5-2) SU this season

(3-3) ATS this season

Boise State Broncos

(6-1) SU this season

(3-3) ATS this season

Last time Boise State played Oregon they let the game slip away in the final minutes. They will be looking to redeem that loss tonight and pick up a good win against a team who went to the Final Four last season. I think Boise State will come into the game poised and will bring their A-game. My pick for this game is the Boise State Broncos to keep the game at least within reach so they will be able to cover the spread.
