Syracuse Orange (6-0) vs. Kansas Jayhawks (6-0)

Saturday, December, 2nd 2017 @ 5:30 pm in American Airlines Arena on ESPN

Line & Odds: Kansas -11.5 Over/Under: 151

The Kansas Jayhawks and the Syracuse Orange will clash in the Hoophall Miami Invitational where the Jayhawks are heavily favored.

The Kansas Jayhawks are ranked 2nd in the country in the college basketball AP rankings and have some of the best players in college basketball. The Kansas Jayhawks have multiple players that are considered to be first-round picks and next year’s NBA draft. Their top scorer Sviatoslav Mtkhailiuk is going to be a lottery pick next year and is one of the best forwards in basketball. The 20-year-old from Cherkasy, Ukraine has also been dependable in the paint, averaging four rebounds a game. Kansas also has one of the best centers in the nation in Udoka Azubuike, the seven foot tall center from Delta Nigeria weighs 280 lb and leads the team in rebounds with an average of 6.7 rebounds per game and is second in scoring on the team with an average of 16 points per game. The Jayhawks also have Devonte Graham and Lagerald Vick who averaged more than 15 points per game and combined average more than 11 rebounds per game. Other than the outstanding talent I think the main thing that makes Kansas a Powerhouse is their ability to play for a long time, they don’t call many players to come off the bench, and three of them averaged more than 30 minutes played per game. Kansas is going to be a force to be reckoned with this season and will be making a deep run in the college basketball tournament.

The Syracuse Orange are a perplexing team this season, they are in first place in the Atlantic Coast Conference, but they are still not ranked. They might be the most overlooked team thus far through the season having one of the top scorers in college basketball in Tyus Battle. Battle leads the team in scoring and is projected to be a first-round draft caliber small forward. Another player that the Syracuse Orange have that contributes to their success is their freshman forward, Oshae Brissett; he leads the team in rebounds with an average of 9.8 per game and averages 12.2 points per game. Other than the lack of depth and star power is a big problem. However, the most significant challenge for Syracuse in this game is their lack of firepower, they have only scored 80 points once this season and the Jayhawks have scored over 95 points 5 times this season.

Jayhawks vs. Orange

Kansas is 4-1 ATS this season

Syracuse is 2-3 ATS this season

Kansas is 5-0 as a Favorite

Both teams Over/Under is 3/7

Syracuse in 2-1 all-time vs. Kansas

Overall the Syracuse Orange are not a complete enough of a team to beat the Kansas Jayhawks. I do not think that Syracuse can keep up with the high-powered Jayhawks. Kansas has beaten their opponents by totally outscoring them. They averaged 95 points per game and had beaten one of the best teams in the country the University of Kentucky. I look for the Kansas Jayhawks to cover the spread and hand the Syracuse Orange their first loss of the season.
