The Tulane Green Wave are in for a big challenge when they take on #13 North Carolina Tar Heels Sunday afternoon.
Tulane returns to the court four days after defeating Alcorn State 81-65. The player of that game was redshirt senior Cameron Reynolds who scored 28 points and shot over the 1,000th-point mark of his career. Samir Sehic emerged from the bench to follow up with 15 points. Melvin Frazier added another 11 points, four rebounds, and an assist. This game is a chance for them to avenge last year’s loss to the team. In that game, which was the season-opening game, they lost to UNC 95-75 in New Orleans. UNC is just the first of two big names Tulane will face soon. In fact, they will face Florida State next weekend.
UNC hardly has time to catch their breath as they will enter their third game in five days. They are returning from yesterday’s 85-75 victory over Davidson. Joel Berry II led the way with 27 points and four assists. Luke Maye followed 24 points and 17 rebounds. The player that most people should take note of is sophomore guard Brandon Robinson. He has stepped in for point guard Seventh Woods after he was sidelined with a foot injury. Robinson emerged from the bench to score a career-high eight points in just the first half. Sterling Manley, another benched player, did seven points. The bench brought up a total of 15 points for this game.

North Carolina has won the last 15 out of 16 meetings against Tulane. They might be trapped in a very busy schedule, but no one can’t argue that the Tar Heels are in their prime. I would have to give credit to Tulane for their impressive start though. However, they must prepare to go into a huge game against one of the biggest and best of college basketball. As much as their record can say some words, I, along with many oddsmakers and fans, don’t believe they are ready for the surprises UNC has in store. It will be a miracle if they pull off an upset, but this game should belong to the Tar Heels.
