VCU Rams (5-3, 0-0 away) vs. Texas Longhorns (5-2, 4-1 home)

Tuesday, December, 5th 2017 @ 7:00 pm in Stuart C. Siegel Center on ESPN 2

Line & Odds:Texas -5 Over/Under: 144.5

The Texas Longhorns make their way to Richmond Virginia to take on the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams (VCU) at the Stuart C Siegel Center.

The Texas Longhorns are an average team this year; their only losses include a five-point loss to No. 17 Gonzaga in overtime and a loss to No.1 Duke in Overtime. Both of which came in the PK80 MOTION challenge, where the Longhorns put up 78 points in there lost to Duke. Overall the Texas Longhorns are 108th in scoring averaging 9.3 points per game and have more than four players averaging more than 10 points per game. The Longhorns are led by sophomore point guard Andrew Jones who leads the team in points per games and is one of the top scorers in the Big 12 Conference. The Longhorns also have one of the best young forwards in college basketball with Mohamed Bamba. He leads the team in rebounds per game and averages 10 points per game, the 6-11 freshman from Harlem, New York is considered to have an NBA talent. The Longhorns overall have a solid defense only giving up 63.3 points per game which is 39th in all of college basketball. The only problem the Longhorns have this season is that they are young, they do not have a single senior on there starting lineup and only have two upperclassmen. This is not a problem against teams with lesser talent, as proof of their win over Butler. Texas is not a great team; however, they can hold their own against anyone.

The VCU Rams are one of the top teams in the Atlantic 10 Conference. They have lost three games all of which to top conference opponents including Virginia, Marquette, and Michigan. VCU has been okay in points scored, averaging 81.1 points per game which is 80th and are 107th in assists. The Rams are loud by Justin Tillman who leads the team in points scored and rebounds per game, the senior from Detroit Michigan also leads the team in blocks per game. The Rams real weakness is their lack of defense. As a team they only average seven steals and four blocks, they are also 244th in points allowed, giving up 75.5 points per game.

VCU VS Texas

VCU 3-3 ATS this season and Texas 1-2 ATS this season

Texas is 1-0 as the Favorite

VCU is 0-3 as the Underdog

Both teams are 4/5 for the Total Over/Under

Texas has only lost two games, and they are both too ranked opponents, and they were both in overtime. Even though VCU averages more points than Texas, the Longhorns have played tougher opponents and have proven when they play the same level opponents they average more points than the Rams. I think the Longhorns offense will be too much for the shaky VCU defense. Look for the Texas Longhorns to cover the spread and beat the VCU Rams in Richmond.

 Pick: Texas Longhorns -5

Bracket is all busted. I can live with that. Not being able to see a Shaka Smart team and a @RickBarnesUT team go head to head, now that is devastating. Here’s to next year. @TexasMBB @Vol_Hoops @ESPNLunardi

Congrats Tech @_delconte @TexasMBB maybe in year 4 of @ShakaSmart we can get to 500 the last 4 yrs in conference. Next year if we go 11-7. Think about that. 3.1 mill for losing record.

Hey Buffies, next time just turn around and address your half empty arena for @TexasMBB before trolling anyone else. #GigEm
