In the quarterfinals of the ACC Men’s Tournament, the 16th ranked Virginia Tech will take on the 12th ranked Florida State, only ten days after matching up in Tallahassee. Virginia Tech are coming off a statement 84-70 win against Miami in the second round, while winning three of their last four games. FSU are currently riding a four-game win streak, with their last victory being at Wake Forest 65-57.
Virginia Tech Hokies
The Virginia Tech Hokies are ranked number 16 in the nation and 5th seed in the ACC tournament. In their second round win versus Miami, the Hokies never trailed in their 71-56 rout. Forward Kerry Blackshear Jr. starred in the victory with a team high 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Nickeil Alexander-Walker led with 6 assists. Virginia Tech overall shot 50 percent from the field, and hit 11/27 three pointers in their third victory versus Miami in the season. However, they were without point guard Justin Robinson, who is listed as out with a foot injury. They will play the Seminoles again in the span of ten days after their overtime loss, 73-64. The focus the Hokies is to maintain the lead by utilizing their top ten defense in the country, while taking advantage of their fourth-ranked three point shooting percentage in the country. In the loss, Alexander-Walker led with 19 points, while Blackshear Jr. was contained to 9 points before being fouled out. Virginia Tech will look forward for the payback, while waiting for the results to the Virginia -N.C. State game to see who advances to the semifinals.
Florida State Seminoles
The Florida State Seminoles are currently ranked higher compared to the Hokies at 12th in the country and fourth in the ACC tournament, despite being listed as a 1.5 underdog for Thursday’s game. Since the Seminoles were a fourth seeded, they got a much needed two-game bye, which better prepares them for their opponents this afternoon. In their last win of their four-game win streak against Wake Forest, Trent Forest led with 11 points on 3/9 shooting and 5 assists, while Christ Koumadje attained 10 rebounds. They will look to replicate their comeback performance against Virginia Tech, where after a 14-point deficit, M.J. Walker sparked the comeback with 11 points after the half. Mfiondu Kabengele led the Seminoles with 17 points in the game as the sixth man, which comes as a surprise because the sophomore also leads the team in points this season, with 13.1 PPG. Terrance Mann leads with 6.4 RPG, and Trent Forrest with 3.8 APG.

NCAA BB Scores Florida State Seminoles vs Virginia Tech Hokies
Florida State are riding an impressive win streak and have won 9 of their 10 games, so picking against them here will take some serious explanation. After all, FSU favors Virginia Tech based on experience with five seniors who start or receive extensive minutes on the floor, and are coming off a week of rest, as opposed to the Hokies, who are dealing with injuries and tired legs. Virginia Tech has the fourth best three-point shooting in the country, which will be difficult for the Seminoles to defend, but look for FSU to follow their same formula that made them escape with the victory ten days ago. FSU should pull off the upset to advance to the semifinals.
Pick: FSU (+1.5)
