The Tigers have their eyes set on a college football playoff run, but the Pitt Panthers are hoping to shake up the rankings in the ACC Championship game.

#2 Clemson Tigers

Clemson is staring at another rematch against Alabama but have to get past the Panthers first. Dabo and his Tigers have been an incredibly good team this year, with possibly the best shot at beating Bama of any other team. Quarterback, Trevor Lawrence, has been incredibly good for his young age and one has to think if he may be better than Deshaun Watson. With on offense that is averaging over 45 points a game the Tigers are tough to beat. Their run game has been solid all year as well, and they will need each aspect of the game this Saturday.

Defensively the Clemson unit has been a tough one. Currently, opposing offenses are only averaging 14 points per game. This statistic alone is incredible let alone doing it in a power five conference. With the 8th best ranked unit in all of college football the Panthers are going to have a hard time scoring. With arguably the best defensive front seven in college football the Tigers have made it a point to get after the quarterback. Tied for second with Penn State, the Clemson Tigers have 43 sacks on the year and hope to add a few more to that total on Saturday.

Pitt Panthers

Pittsburgh has been an interesting team to say the least so far this year. They have won four of their last five games, to give them the top spot in the ACC Coastal division. Recently against Miami (FL) the Panthers offense just stopped. With just 200 yards of total offense the Panthers had a chance to make a statement and simply did not. Kenny Pickett has had a competent year with 1,800 yards of passing, and Qadree Ollison has been productive on the ground. With an offense that is averaging 28 points per game they are going to have to step it up against the Tigers.

Pitt has always been a team to pride itself on having a good defense. Sadly enough, this season has not been the best for them defensively. Currently they are allowing opponents to score just under 28 points per game on average. As a unit as a whole they are ranked 76th, in the country, and allow 400 yards of offense per game on average. These are the things that they cannot do against Clemson and win. They are going to need to stop Trevor Lawrence, and then focus on offensive production. I look for Pitt to come out strong, but probably fade after the first quarter.

The ACC Championship game has always been an offensive showcase to watch. the last couple of years have been spent watching Dabo just pound whoever was unlucky enough to win the Coastal Division. I don’t see that changing this year. I think from the first whistle to the last whistle Clemson will dominate this game, and cruise to the College Football Playoff. Pitt will show up with enough enthusiasm to cover the spread but will not win this game. Clemson is a different team this year and Saturday will prove that. I predict a dominate performance by Clemson, but not enough to beat the spread.

The Pick: Pitt Panthers +27.5
