Colorado will attempt to write history on Saturday night by beating USC for the first time in their history having dropped their previous 12 meetings and also hope to end USC’s head coach Clay Helton’s 12-game unbeaten record at the Coliseum. Laviska Shenault leads the country in receiving and also leads the team in all-purpose yards and sits 11th in the FBS in all-purpose yards. Steven Montez has been one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the FBS sitting second in completion percentage and leads an offense that is 18th in total offense with 490.6 yards per game. Mustafa Johnson will lead the defense for the Buffaloes and is tied for 11th in tackles for loss per game. Travon McMillan has three straight 100-yard games and sits at 528 yards this season and four touchdowns to lead the rushing attack.
USC is led by True Freshman quarterback JT Daniels who got a week off of throwing and received a couple of days of rest. Daniels has already thrown 157 passes completing 59.9% of those but has already thrown three interceptions and only four touchdowns. The defense for the Trojans has struggled this season giving up 381.2 and is giving up 218 pass yards so far. A player to watch for USC is Amon-Ra. St. Brown who has healed up from a shoulder injury. The USC backfield will rotate three different running backs but will be led by Aca’Cedric Ware who had -5 yards rushing against Washington State but had a better day last time out running for 173 yards against Arizona and on the season is averaging over six yards per carry.

Colorado has yet to defeat a team with a winning record this season and USC will have had an extra week to prepare as they didn’t play last week. USC has got dominated in both of their losses and needed a come from behind victory against Washington State. USC won last season’s matchup in Boulder by a score of 38-24. Although difficult to beat USC at home Colorado appears to be a promising team this year as they entered the season coming off a disappointing 2017 that followed a Pac 12 south title in 2016. The Buffaloes this season sits atop the Pac 12 south again and this game could decide the south representative in the Pac 12 championship game. With the experience and the balanced attack for Colorado they should keep this game close and could even pull off an upset but at the very least they should keep the game with a touchdown. Expect a high scoring game where each team looks in control at points in the game just for the other to get back into the game and this could potentially be a close game to the end.
