Akron Zips vs The Buffalo Bulls
Its week seven of college football and on Saturday the 2-2 Akron Zips head into New York to take on the 5-1 Buffalo Bulls.
The Zips got off to a fast start with a big win against Northwestern. The win put the Zips at 2-0, but after back to back loses to Iowa State and Miami University they have fallen to 2-2. Buffalo was able to bounce back last week after get annihilated by the Army in their first loss of the season. The Bulls beat Central Michigan 34-24 to keep first place in the Mid-American Conference.
If Akron wants to snap their two game losing streak they will have to go on the road and beat a very explosive Buffalo offense. Buffalo has scored at least 34 points in all five of their wins this season. The Bulls quarterback Tyree Jackson has been a highlight real throwing for 1,331 yards and 17 touchdowns with only 4 interceptions. The run game has been just as good ranking 69th in the FBS with 175 rushing yards per contest.
Akron didn’t play to well last week against Miami. They started off slow losing 14-0 but were able to rally back in the third to take a 17-14 lead. Then Miami went on a tear scoring 27 unanswered points to win the game. Miami was able to force five turnovers in their dominating 41-17 victory.
Kato Nelson the quarterback for the Zips will have to step it up this week in order for them to get the dub. Nelson only has 865 passing yards on the season with just seven touchdowns and five interceptions. He is also second on the team with 165 yards on the ground. Van Edwards JR is the lead back for the Zips with 189 rushing yards and two scores. If they stand a chance of winning this game these two guys will have to have a big night.
The Buffalo Bulls are the 41st team in the nation in scoring offense with an average of 34.7 points per game. The Akron Zips are 74th in the FBS in points allowed giving up nearly 27 points per game. I expect the Bulls offense to be too much for the Zips to handle, if the Zips can force a couple turnovers then they should be able to make it game. Not to mention Akron hasn’t had a lot of luck in Buffalo and the Bulls are the team to beat in the Mid- American With the home team dominating this series I will stick with the trend and take the Buffalo Bulls to win this game.
Trends and Odds For The Game
The home team is 6-0 ATS in their last six games between these two teams. On top of that Akron is 1-5 ATS in their last six trips to Buffalo. The Buffalo Bulls are 4-1 ATS in their last five conference games. Buffalo is also 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a straight up win. Akron is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games while the under is 28-11 in their last 39 games following a loss. The Zips are also 1-4 ATS in their last five games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. On top of everything the Buffalo Bulls are favorited to win this game by 12 points.
