Free College Football Expert Picks Wake Forest Vs Memphis Tigers
Wake Forest finished the season 6-6 and this Saturday they will be looking to win their third straight bowl game. However, they will be taking on the 8-5 Memphis Tigers who are 0-2 in their last two bowls games. This year they are the favorite to win the Jared Birmingham Bowl.
The Memphis Tigers finished the regular season strong winning their final three games before losing to Central Florida 56-41 in the American Athletic Conference Championship game. In the game Memphis running back Darrell Henderson scored on runs of 62, 12 and 82 yards and he also threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to give the Tigers a 38-21 halftime lead. The nations second-leading rusher only gained three yards in the second half, letting Central Florida’s backup quarterback to complete the 56-41 comeback.
Against Wake Forest, Memphis will have to rely heavily on Junior quarterback Brady White as Darrell Henderson has elected to not compete in this game as he prepares for the upcoming NFL draft. Although the Tigers backup running back Patrick Taylor Jr is very tough rushing for 1,012 yards and 15 touchdowns this year he is no Darrell Henderson, Henderson leads the country in rushing touchdowns. The Tigers are ranked second in the FBS in rushing yards per game but without Henderson the Tigers could turn to the passing game. If they decide to take that route they should be fine averaging the 50th-most passing yards per game in the country.
Wake Forest on the other hand is looking to pull off the upset and win their third bowl game in three years. The Demon Deacons won two of their final three games to become bowl eligible, they were able to pull off the upset against NC State winning 27-23 then they finished the season annihilating Duke 59-7. Similar to Memphis, Wake Forest has a outstanding running game led by Senior running back Matt Colburn and junior running back Cade Carney.
The Wake Forest Demon Deacons ground game is averaging 214.7 yards per contest, Colburn and Carney combined for 1,652 yards and 13 touchdowns on the season, with Carney leading the way with 954 yards and eight touchdowns. Colburn missed the last two games of the year with an ankle injury but is expected to play this week.

Free College Football Prediction Memphis Tigers Vs Wake Forest
Wake Forest beat Temple 34-26 in the 2016 Military Bowl and they squeezed out a 55-52 win over Texas A&M in last year’s Belk Bowl. This is a team that knows how to finish strong and this year they are doing the same thing. Sophomore QB Jamie Newman has stepped in for Sam Hartman after suffering a season-ending foot injury and has given the Wake Forest offense a spark. Newman has 680 passing yards and eight touchdowns with only two interceptions over the last three weeks. Memphis will have to be sharp in all aspects of the game in order for them to win, but the seventh highest scoring offense in college football should be too much for the Demons Deacons to handle. I’m going to pick Memphis in a high scoring game.
