Why Clemson Will Win

Reason number 1 and the main reason that Clemson will win is that Trevor Lawrence is no longer a freshman. Having a solid 8 games under his belt against ACC competition, Lawrence has really improved since his first game starting. He is coming off a near 400-yard game against rival South Carolina and is going up against a Pittsburgh pass defense this week that is nothing special being a mid-tier defensive team in the ACC. Secondly, the Pittsburgh offensive line gives up way to many plays in the backfield. This Clemson is dominant and should have a field day against this O-Line. Led by Christian Wilkins and Clelin Ferrell the Clemson defensive line has put up 43 sacks this season. Pittsburgh is good a the ground, but Clemson is number 2 in rush defense in the nation allowing 84.7 yards-per-game.

How Pittsburgh Can Win

Kenny Pickett has been a field general for this Panthers team this season, Pittsburgh got to the ACC Championship because of their running game. If the Panthers want to win Pickett has to step up in a big way against a Clemson secondary who allowed 510 yards and 5 touchdowns to Jake Bentley last week. If Pickett can put it all together this week the Panthers can keep the Clemson defense on its heels with a dual attack. Secondly, The Panthers have to have an amazing game on the ground. The 1-2 rushing punch of Qadree Ollison and Darrin Hall combined for over 2,000 yards with 19 scores hitting home run after home run. Lastly, the Panthers can’t turn the ball over and I know its easier said than done especially with Clemson’s stout defensive line but they cannot to have a chance. Pittsburgh leads the ACC with the fewest giveaways. They a +2 turnover margin against Notre Dame, even though didn’t win the game they kept it close against a top 3 team in the country.

I know Clemson has way more talent, but I think Pittsburgh will come into this game well prepared. Pittsburgh beat a Deshaun Watson-led Clemson team a couple seasons back so they had a game plan that worked before. The game will start off close being within ten at halftime, but  Clemson will pull away in the fourth quarter. 38-21 Clemson.

Pick: Over 52.5
